Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 Tyres
daveb666 - 28/1/14 at 08:17 AM

I am able to supply Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 Tyres in 195/50/15 size.

The tyres are control tyres, used in a UK race Championship. As such, they have to be changed after every race. The races are between 15-20 laps long and the cars weigh c. 650-700kg so the wear and damage to the tyres is very minimal. (On those tyres used in a wet race it is not uncommon to still see the new 'bobbles' on the edges of the tyre)

Tyres are supplied with tread ranging from between 5mm to 8mm (usually more than less) and all sets will be as matched as possible.

I got a set of tyres below a few weeks ago for my own car, as you can see it looks practically brand new.

CosKev3 - 28/1/14 at 09:10 AM

Excellent tyre's, used them on a couple of my 309gtis.

whats the manufacture date on them please? (As iirc they have been discontinued from Michelin for a while)

daveb666 - 28/1/14 at 09:34 AM

The oldest I've come across are 2012, the majority are 2013 but all the tyres are dry-stored by both the teams and myself. The ones I showed in the picture above are 2012 and I did a track day in them last month (see other threads for videos) and they performed perfectly.

I know the race teams can still get new ones from Michelin as Michelin have a commitment to the race-series as they are the tyre sponsor over the year.

From May-June this year they're moving to PS3s so it's likely that I will, from that point be offering the PS3s instead.

CosKev3 - 28/1/14 at 11:19 AM

Ok cheers.
bargain price for these!
typical my wheels have got a good set of Yokos allready fitted.

NigeEss - 28/1/14 at 02:15 PM

I'll have a set please.

As I'm the first to bite can I have 8mm on each please

daveb666 - 28/1/14 at 02:24 PM

Hi Nige,

I will try and pull 4 of the best ones out for you

Do you want collection (I'm about 70miles from you) or delivery? If the latter then I'll send you Paypal or bank details depending how you want to pay?

daveb666 - 28/1/14 at 02:43 PM

First set paid for, thanks!

I do spend a fair amount of time driving up/down the M1/M62 with work so am happy to meet people at services etc if that helps anyone but I do need payment upfront.

I should know by the end of today if I can also get my hands on some circuit-slicks in a similar condition to the PE2s. These will be in 13", 15", 17" and 18" sizes - if there would be any interest in these?

[Edited on 28/1/14 by daveb666]

yellowcab - 28/1/14 at 06:20 PM

NigeEss - 28/1/14 at 07:19 PM

Olly, I can get 13" slicks in 200-240 width for £135 delivered to your door.

For those interested in 15" slicks these come in the equivalent 195/50 size and are £235 delivered.

pk - 30/1/14 at 07:15 PM

I,m interested in the 195/50 15 slicks. Can you give an indication of make, compound and "tread" depth. some photo's would be great.

big_wasa - 30/1/14 at 07:31 PM

Any chance they race something with the Pilot's in 17" ideally 225-45-17 well you don't know if you don't ask and all that.

maximus1 - 4/2/14 at 04:17 PM

thanks for the tyres dave. they are basicly brand new just scrubbed in, any body thinking about getting some you will not be disappointed. i will hopefully have an other set end of February if you have any left dave.

thanks barry

daveb666 - 5/2/14 at 04:05 PM

Warren; not road-going 17s I'm afraid - plenty of slicks though if you fancy a go on those?

Thanks for the feedback Barry; glad you're a happy customer.

Some better photos are below.

As you can see the majority of the markings on the tyres are minor scrubbing (as Barry has noted in hi post above).

The tyres do have fair amounts of 'pickup' from the track but this will obviously come off within the first 5-10miles of driving.

Still have some in stock at the moment - whilst I do get these on a regular basis it is very much first come first served.

Chi - 5/2/14 at 07:30 PM

Forgot to post here to say I had linked it over. Posted these on cliosport as this is popular tyre in the right size for RenaultSport clios on 15s.

daveb666 - 10/2/14 at 07:27 AM

All the orders from last week were sent over the weekend. I has to make two trips as I can only for 12 tyres in my car at a time lol

You should all receive them tomorrow hopefully.

I have just 4 sets of the PE2s left at the moment.

daveb666 - 11/2/14 at 10:17 AM

3 sets of PE2s left now!

Courier picked another load up today.

I apologize in advance for any slow deliveries; the flooding down-south is somehow affecting how often the courier up here collects items from me (at least that's his excuse?!)

ben306 - 13/2/14 at 10:17 AM

Hi,

I've replied to the email. Very interested and can collect tonight or at weekend if you could email me back.

Thanks

Ben

theduck - 13/2/14 at 10:45 AM

Hi dave, have mine been sent or are you hopping or when I am back after 22nd?

daveb666 - 13/2/14 at 11:15 AM

Everything has been sent mate so should arrive today/tomorrow at the latest.

Oggy172 - 13/2/14 at 04:04 PM

Do they have tracking ?

Would like to know if they're coming as opposed to waiting in.

Thanks.

sdh2903 - 13/2/14 at 04:16 PM

daveb666 - 13/2/14 at 04:17 PM

sdh2903 - 13/2/14 at 05:23 PM

Yep top notch mate, they going on the lad's corsa tomorrow in place of the abominal Chinese crap that's on there now. I figure an 18 year old needs every assistance to keep the thing on the road

yellowcab - 13/2/14 at 05:25 PM

^ ^ ^ Where's the "Like" button ^ ^ ^

melly-g - 13/2/14 at 06:36 PM

Got mine today.
Excellent tyres obviously you can see they have been used but plenty of life left in them.
Well chuffed.

theduck - 14/2/14 at 03:24 PM

Arrived today. As above, used but excellent condition. Would hazard a guess that the series they are used in contains the word juniors

wylliezx9r - 14/2/14 at 04:08 PM

Arrived today, 6-7mm tread on all. Cheers

nick205 - 14/2/14 at 04:36 PM

Hi,

I'll take a set of 4 if you've any left please (195/50R15).

Would need them shipped though if you can?

U2U sent and money waiting.

daveb666 - 14/2/14 at 04:52 PM

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Nick, u2u on its way.

nick205 - 14/2/14 at 07:53 PM

Thanks Dave, looking forward to receiving the tyres

sdh2903 - 14/2/14 at 10:18 PM

Had mine fitted today, I get all my tyres fitted at a tiny backstreet old school tyre place with 2 old boys who own it, they did ask if the tyres had been used for racing or rallying, can't get anything past the old buggers! Car already feels better on its new boots. Thanks again Dave.

daveb666 - 20/2/14 at 09:49 AM

Thanks for all the good feedback guys.

I've got 4 sets of PE2s left in stock - will probably be getting some more April time so if you need some new shoes before Spring now is the time to get them!

nick205 - 20/2/14 at 10:43 AM

Hi,

Just received mine this morning and very very pleased with them indeed. Nicely scrubbed off and very close to full tread depth on them.

Highly recommended on price and service

Shame only 1 of 3 cars takes that size TBH or I'd have more from you

Also wondered about a 5th as a spare, but TBH they're way to good to sit in the boot on the spare wheel.

[Edited on 20/2/14 by nick205]

daveb666 - 20/2/14 at 10:46 AM

Thanks for the feedback Nick, glad they arrived for you before the weekend!

daveb666 - 25/2/14 at 08:30 AM

Collecting another 100 or so PE2s in the next week so I've plenty to go at if anyone has been waiting in the wings..

big_wasa - 25/2/14 at 12:53 PM

nick205 - 25/2/14 at 02:56 PM

Dave,

Any chance of a single tyre to use on my spare wheel?

Could maybe split a set of 4 with others if there was interest?

Cheers
Nick

daveb666 - 25/2/14 at 09:56 PM

Nick, it'll be £40 delivered for one!

Other u2us replied to

daveb666 - 27/2/14 at 11:53 AM

I've now got a few sets of the new Michelin Pilot Sport 3's in stock!

These tyres are a 'replacement' for the PE2s in the race series that I obtain them from. As with the PE2s these are scrubbed in tyres, but in great condition.

Due to the increased 'new' price for these tyres these are slightly more expensive than the PE2s @

A set of 4 Pilot Sport 3 tyres for £125 collected or £140 delivered to your door - the RRP of these tyres is £74 each!!

hobbsy - 2/3/14 at 02:44 PM

Are these the tyres in question? How are they on a light car sub 500kg as seem to be more tintop orientated from a quick look?

No reflection on the tyres BTW!

Yep, same tyres.

The race series in question uses the tyres and the cars weigh 600kg wet so by no means a 'light car'. They are also RWD as well.

hobbsy - 3/3/14 at 11:20 AM

Bizarrely camskill have the ps3 cheaper than the pe2 so is that going to alter the prices? do you have any pe2 left now or is it all ps3?

daveb666 - 3/3/14 at 01:22 PM

Camskill are a law unto themselves though

Current stock is 96 PE2s & 8 PS3s

Pfw - 16/3/14 at 08:36 PM

What tyres are left now please ?

daveb666 - 17/3/14 at 09:30 PM

100+ PE2s. No PS3s at the moment

Some reviews:

Given 100% (breakdown) while driving a Ford Focus ST (225-40-18-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
5 weeks owning my focus mk2 st2 and first thing was to get the barum budgets off and some proper rubber on. Im running 320bhp with mods trough the front wheels so it needs a dam good tyre. Im pleased to say Im so happy with the pilot sport 3. They have totally changed to feel and ride and the grip is phenomenal in both dry and wet. In my opinion a must have for the st. 500 I paid for 4 spankers which may seem steep but it feels safe and planted with these bad boys on. Look no further.

Given 97% (breakdown) while driving a BMW 328i Coupe (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Absolutely superb, these are a million miles better than £10-20 cheaper options

Dry and wet grip are very very good, I have used these on track and they don't come a far off the grip I get from Toyo Proxes R888 semi-slicks on the same car.

Road feeling is superb, they are quiet and you know all the time whats happening

Prices for these are £110 a set of four collected or £125 delivered to your door.

Paypal only - add 4% of send as a gift. Plenty of happy customers on this and other forums.

What kind of condition are they in and how many do you have?
If they have E marks then they should be OK but I would need to check the list

daveb666 - 29/7/14 at 09:35 AM

Condition is great, as is all the tyres I sell

I'll double check on the E-marking tonight, they are in the list though as I've just looked.

daveb666 - 8/9/14 at 09:54 AM

Update - LOADS in stock - 13", 15", 16", 17", 18". Wets and slicks + road tyres in Michelin Ps3 flavour

loggyboy - 8/9/14 at 11:05 AM

What do you have in the way of 195 45 16 (or 205) for road tyres?
and any size between 195 50 15 to 205 55 15 for track/slicks?

Neb - 8/9/14 at 11:37 AM

Hi Dave what have you got in 13"?
I'm after a set of wets mainly but interested in anything competition based for the Escort.
Max of a 185 and would need to have tread (dry) as it's for stage rally.

sdh2903 - 8/9/14 at 12:22 PM

Long shot I know but don't suppose you have a pair of 255 35 18??

No 16" road tyres.

Got 15" slicks in both those sizes and also got semi-slick emarked tyres in 195/50 x 15 (Dunlop direzzas).

daveb666 - 9/9/14 at 07:32 AM

13s I've only got the following -
230/55 x 13 slicks x2
220/55 x 13 wets x 2
160/50 x 13 slicks x 4
160/50 x 13 wets x 2

Neb - 9/9/14 at 12:16 PM

Thanks Dave the 160's will work.

Please may i have some photos of the tread & a price delivered on both the slicks & wets.

daveb666 - 9/9/14 at 02:06 PM

Hi neb, will try and get you a photo but I try and just pull the tyres out when needed so can't promise it will be in the next day I'm afraid.

I can assure you the tread and condition of all my tyres is more than fit for purpose - I don't sel rubbish and have never had a tyre returned to me.

I'll get you a price this evening, to confirm that would be 6 tyres in total?

Neb - 9/9/14 at 02:36 PM

Thanks Dave, I'm aware if your quailty of product, they are serious bargains! I'll be having some Michelin's off you soon.

If i could have the Make and Tyre Part Number I.e. Avon CR500 etc that would be sufficient.

As said i need to check i can use the slicks for rallying as they need to be moulded. Again the part number will tell me.

If all good i will pay up this week as i "need" them for a rally next weekend.

daveb666 - 7/10/14 at 01:10 PM

New stock of PS3s landing in the next 1-6 weeks

Loads of slicks still in stock.

daveb666 - 7/10/14 at 02:56 PM
