Im trying to design my tank but i think im calculating it wrong.
The dimensions are 100cm x 30cm x 80cm which i work out to be 2.4 metres cubed. I used an online converter which says the volume is 528 uk gallons.
Surley this isnt right?
oh that’s right enough, the UK gallon is about the size of a sugar cube

It works at at 0.24 cubic metres or 240 litres.

quick calc says 240L - bit less for internal dimensions. So at current prices that would cost around £260 to fill (and contain around 240kg of fuel).
You might want to go a little smaller mate!! 
You've got the decimal place in the wrong place.
Cubic centimeter is the 3 dims multiplied i.e. 100x30x80 = 240000cc
Convert that into UK Gallons and that's 52.7926 or 240 litres.

No jag engine so close enough
I just wanted a rough idea but at least now i know i can go a bit smaller
I might go for about 80 litres. These jag engines arnt the most economical 
I know you are using a Jag engine, but even so 240 litres seems a bit on the big side
240L of fuel to fill it - that would be like karting around 4 bike engines or half a BEC!!
i think i currently have the biggest tank at 40lts, 240 is just silly

Because my engine is so heavy i want a fairly big tank to compensate a bit for that. Also i understand that alot of locostbuilders end up stopping
every 100 or so miles for fill ups.
I think 70 - 80 litres will be what i go for

what size tanks do the jags normally have ???
1 gal (UK/ imperial) = 4.564 l
2 gal (US) = 3.785 l
Are you sure 1m x 0.8m x 0.3m, that's either unfeasibly tall, or unfeasibly big in plan, neither would fit in the rear space of a seven.
Sure it isn't 0.1m x 0.8m x 0.3m
Which is 0.024m3, ie 24 litres? ie 5.2 gallons?

Cruising... I get about 300 miles on my 50litre tank....blatting....a lot less...
2 litre zetec with Gixxer 750 Throttle Bodies
my 4957cc V8 928 weighs 1650kilos and has an 80litre tank, cruising at 70mph it will do 400 miles on a tank.
The sylva striker has a 900cc bike engine in it and a 24litre tank and will do 170 miles on a tank @ 70mph
Fitting a 80l tank to your car is overkill. 40l max.
Yes if you blat it mpg is crap but take a jerry can or 2 it'll be better in the long term.

I went for twin 25L tanks to get better balance while acheiving a realistic range - about 300 miles of cruising with my V6.
Watch out for sloshing too - it can really throw some weight around and upset things if not adequately baffled. You could also consider foam filling.

in a Jag and doing it and I think you'll find you wont fancy doing it that often.........

What is the height of your tank then? Your chassis doesn't have a rear at the moment from your archive photos, but it looks like it'll need
a huge one then. Either 1m or 0.8m is way higher than the vertical space available above the differential. have you actually made this tank(er) yet

No i havnt made the tank. My plan is to have it at the rear of the car like in the boo and have a slightly bigger boot to make it a bit more practicle
