Sylva Striker on steroids
MikeRJ - 30/8/11 at 09:33 PM

Well..it used to be a Sylva Striker. Now it has a very heavily tuned, supercharged Civic Type R producing around 560bhp which is directed to 15" wide slicks via a Hewland transaxle at the rear, and a few 'aerodynamic modifications'.

I heard about this monster quite a long time ago, but I only saw it in action on Sunday in a sprint at St Eval. The owner (not the chap in the pic) is a lovely chap that says it could do with a touch more power...

It's only running 9 or 10psi as well, there is scope for more apparently. Engine was built by a fairly local guy that managed nearly 280bhp from my friends Mi16 engine, so I can well believe it. The main difference is that the Honda engine has been completely reliable...the Mi16 rather less so.

I do have some footage, but sadly the only sound my camera picked up was the constantly blowing wind, which drowned out most of the cars. I've been trying to filter some of it out, but wind noise is almost impossible to remove.

However, there is a YouTube video of him at the Camel Vale Castle Hillclimb in back in July. It sounds very odd with the supercharger, nothing like a standard screaming VTEC engine.

I missed out on going but a friend went and raved about that Striker, it's an S2000 motor on steroids and went a tad quick apparently to the point most folk wet themselves when they saw it...........

Seconds 56 to 1:04 suggests it could do with a touch less...

Most definitely a K20A engine from an EP3 Civic. The cam cover on the F20C (S2000) engine looks quite different.

I'm inclined to agree! I think the owner is from the "If enough is good, more is better and too much is perfect" school of thought Still a wonderful machine though.

Nice! But he is having trouble keeping that on the road, so more is going to be a bit of a problem. Engineering-wise, it's great though.
