Replacing high pressure AC pipe
greggors84 - 15/7/09 at 05:22 PM

Went to recharge my air con at the weekend using one of those cans from Halfords and when I put some in it just came out of a pin hole on the high pressure side.

The fittings look fairly simple, just a flange bolted on and they are easy to get to.

Anyone done one before? Anything else I need to take into consideration?

Car is a Skoda Fabia.

Yet more air con gas released into the atmoshpere!

Did you know it's illegal to allow an air con problem to vent the gas into the atmosphere?!?!?

This is a Fabia problem - happens to all of them at some point. You need new O rings which are special purple ones and a special tool for attaching to the pipe in the RHF inner wing.

You may not be able to get any more of the Halfords gas as the law changed a couple of weeks ago and only qualified personal are supposed to service AC systems. The Halfords gas also contaminates the system apparently and may cause future servicing problems. Trading standards will be checking up on garages offering AC servicing and hefty fines will be imposed.
