No he wasn't. In fact, he never actually made the prediction you're talking about, nowhere in his writings did he mention Rome on the 11th May.

There are a couple of hundred earthquakes big enough to be felt every single day, of course there was going to be one somewhere. The fact that this one was on the same continent and fatal in just an unfortunate co-inky-dink.
