Cars you wish were rear wheel drive.
liam.mccaffrey - 14/8/11 at 05:09 PM

Messing about with cars and locost motoring would be much more interesting if more cars were rear wheel drive.

which cars would you buy or build/if they came in rear wheel drive.

id like a rwd Volvo S60 or a v8 muscle car Mondeo

Could always build one I suppose

scootz - 14/8/11 at 05:20 PM

Corrado.

david_hornet27 - 14/8/11 at 05:38 PM

Alfa 156 2.5

plentywahalla - 14/8/11 at 06:12 PM

Anything with more than 150 bhp per ton.

coozer - 14/8/11 at 07:07 PM

Yeah - but the Marina was rear wheel drive

Mine used to squeal round corners at 20 MPH (those Michelin ZX tyres were rubbish!!)
The 1800 B-series did have a fair bit of poke though.

working on that one.
involves a 4.2 v8 from a touareg, passat syncro rear suspension, ford 8.8 rear differential and a Borg warner T5 trans.

Fiat Barchetta would be nice especially with the 5cyl turbo engine from the Coupe.

Good call on the Alfa 156 v6

JoelP - 14/8/11 at 07:46 PM

im liking these suggestions, fav being the corrado cos that a lovely car.

Antnicuk - 14/8/11 at 07:48 PM

the last Toyota Celica, Honda prelude

Ninehigh - 14/8/11 at 08:26 PM

My first thought was the Puma, the Tigra would have been nice too.

Top end mondeos could have 4x4 on them, like the quattro series

morcus - 15/8/11 at 02:10 AM

Rover 75, I know MG had a go at making such a thing but the whole lot of them should have been. The Mk2 Seville, The car should have been RWD and the engines should have been more powerful (top model had a 6litre V8 that made 145hp).

alistairolsen - 15/8/11 at 06:30 AM

Volvo 850 T5, totally wasted as a front driver.

jossey - 15/8/11 at 08:42 AM

pug 106 rally

Oooh nice but I'd prefer a 164 Cloverleaf 3 litre . Sooooooooo nearly bought one, but after driving one I found the FWD so soul destroying that I just had to go for the Vaux Omega instead.

blakep82 - 15/8/11 at 12:22 PM

all of them, would make buying a new car easier for me. not a fwd fan in the slightest lol

both of them have been done with the cossie running gear

there are a few places that offer it as an 'off the shelf' conversion for the mk1 focus shell

There were a few 75 RWD versions produced.....most of the cars were MG, but a few were "Rover"

Norfolkluegojnr - 15/8/11 at 02:59 PM

Definitely Celica and Prelude.

406 coupe?

S70 Volvo.....

ST220 Mond would be nice too.

Norfolkluegojnr - 15/8/11 at 03:03 PM

oo oo Alfa GTV as well. Definitely should be RWD.

RWD. FWD or 4WD should be a factory option on all cars IMO!

I do agree to a certain extent, ive had a lots of fun in over powered FWD hatches in the dry, but ive had more fun in underpowered RWD cars in the wet!

I was really meaning underpowerd FWD hatches - I had lots of fun in my old 45hp 106

Ninehigh - 16/8/11 at 04:55 PM

Yeah I get the feeling a 106 with rwd and enough power is going to be tail-insane (or tail-suicidal!)

bencorden - 17/8/11 at 07:47 PM

Hi chaps,

Had to make my first post something worthwhile so my tuppence for an interesting RWD wisher would be a '92 Lotus Elan..

Volvorsport - 17/8/11 at 08:10 PM

rwd s70?

http://www.garaget.org/?car=55083&image=1381290

volvo made a rwd 850/70 , in the shape of a 960 with a whiteblock .

somebody has already made a rwd C30 too......

second on the 106 rallye Jessey.. brilliant car.. used to own one as my 2nd car... it really was one of the fastest things in my area... I had it stripped out running with 2 seats

I loved it...mine had the rattle tappets problem tho which was a bit annoying !!!

eddie99 - 17/8/11 at 08:38 PM
