Evening all
Ok the wife just cracked the screen on her ipad. Is there an easy fix, diy or is it a case of ten thousand microscopic screws and specialist tools and
it will never work properly again.
Or take it to apple and have my pants pulled.......
Anyone done one?? Easy...hard.....don't bother.....
Any one want to do one for a few beer tokens?
Help appreciated as usual
Thanks
Andy
Put it in youtube, it shows you how to do it.
Which model - have a look here:

its an ipad 2 wifi
What I really could do with is someone who has attempted this. All the youtube video's always make it look easy. Has anyone actually tried it and
what was the outcome.
Is it worth maybe just claiming on your household insurance for a new one?

My mate had his done by then whilst he waited.
For the amount they charge it's not worth risking doing it yourself.

I have done it once and it was a nightmare to do without damaging stuff getting the old one off. That said I broke it but then did a second which went
ok but the home button was rubbish and hard to use after that.
I have heard mixed reviews on how easy or hard it is. The first on after the change wouldn't charge when on.
Don't buy a cheap screen they are poo mostly.
I got quoted £49 for mine doing I would pay that now I know how hard they can be.
You maybe lucky n all is ok then you save a few quid.
Is it a cracked screen, or cracked lens?
The lenses tend to be bonded on, which makes it an awkward job but far cheaper than replacing the whole screen, digitisers, and lens assembly.

I replaced screen on daughters iPad 2 a fortnight ago. Pain in the ass job! Had to also replace the power button ribbon cable due to damaging it
taking old screen off.
i bought a new screen that came with tools. Used hair dryer to soften glue. Was a long job, approx 5 hours at least. Could do another in half that now
i reckon. I followed you tube videos, used about 3 of them to get views i needed ref missing the hidden cables underneath and still snapped one.
Really thin, didn't see or feel it.
I couldn't recommend it as a diy job. Depends on your skills.
Screen and digitiser are same thing, and bonded in. The led screen is underneath that.
I did an HTC phone a while back. It was easy enough other than getting the glue off with a hair dryer which took a while.

Done a couple of iPhone 3GS, but not done an ipad. 1st iPhone was tricky, but once I'd done one was easy enough. Ipad would be similar.
