I have never fitted glow plugs in my life so does anyone know how these are changed on a seat leon 04 1.9 tdi ARL engine as my dads is bringing up a glow plug fault and being on 40k probably worth changing even if not the problem.

On modern diesels the glowplug light also functions as the engine management fault light, sounds like you need to get it pluged in and check what the fault is, should be cheaper than just ramdomly changing parts.

The Leon's have a separate engine management light for a start....

It could just be a duff plug, or a loose connection on one of them.

If you pull the cover off the top of the engine you can see the plugs Its a bit like changing spark plugs, only more expensive

Also check your brake lights...for some odd reason if both bulbs go then the glowplug light will stay on on the Leon

Hi, and thanks for replies ive already done the scan which idicates plug problems i think it was code 17056. i will check the resistance of the old ones with a multimetre as i believe they shoul be between 0.2-0.3 ohms but i have never removed a set and his bay is filthy so i cant see a thing but if its like sparks hopefully an easy job and there only 6.50 each for the 150 bhp ARL, my cupra r's plugs were near enough £40 for the NGK Lasers.

Just give them a good squirt with WD40 before hand to help free them out. I've done mine before but on an older generation TDi probably.
