Help!!! BEC CLUTCH
RJK350 - 29/4/12 at 04:14 PM

Can any one help.

I have an MK Indy with an Aprilia RSVR engine.

At a track day at Pembrey yesterday had a problem with clutch. Clutch was dragging and struggling to change gear. Once engine had cooled down working fine with no issues changing gears. It has a hydraulic clutch. Fired car up on drive today and gear change is no problems with no clutch dragging.

Does this sound like a clutch or a gearbox issue.
Is it a just clutch plates?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

what was the oil level like?

I have just read a book on clutch and gearboxes and it mentioned if the oil is a little low it can do that....

(only what ive read not personal knowledge)

my clutch is on my work bench lol

If the engine has been stood a while, I would be tempted to remove the clutch, and check it, and soak it in engine oil overnight, then refit.
Also have you got the recommended grade of oil in the engine.

Car has been stood since a track day on the 7th April.
First time I have had this problem.

With the aprilia being dry sumped, does it have a oil spray jet onto the clutch basket ?, I know with a dry sump set up, you will not have as much oil around the clutch as a wet sump set up, but with it being such a easy job, I would remove the cover cover and clutch and have a look in there.

Had similar issue on a R1, pretty sure it was slipper clutch causing extra heat, as mentioned an extra oil line sorted it out.
