Would I be right in assuming to supercharge a 2.0l dutatec I would need to replace all engine components and re-port cylinder head?

Valve springs
Rockers?
Cams?
Also if I bought a cossie engine would I need to do this? Or would these components in a cossy engine be uprated enough to accept a supercharger
without needing changed to forged/strengthened internals?
So maybe a cossy is better option overall?

When you say Cossie do you mean the Cosworth engine in the Sierra/Escort? That is very old tech now.
Speak to Omex, TTS Performance and Raceline and then look at your options.
Pretty sure you can supercharge most engines running low boost without any internal engine mods.
if you go high boost you need to lower compression/forged pistons etc.
Cosworth YB is still the best for big bhp. It's a great engine and is now back in production.
A standard 2WD 205 engine will make over 300bhp without any internal mods. Steel crank, steel rods and forged pistons as standard.
The problem is most cossy engines found second hand are most likely worn out, and can be expensive to rebuild.
Depends on the power you want. Flak Monkey on here built a super charged Duratech. Iirc his mods were forged pistons, cams and ARP bolts. I think the
rest of the internals were standard but I could be wrong.

I have a rotrex supercharged cossy in my Kitten. It was modified as a NA engine before i fitted the supercharger so it already had a ported
head/cams/solid lifters etc. I've slowly been increasing the boost along with other mods and now i'm running it at 1bar it does go quiet
well
The cossy is a bit dated, heavy and expensive but they're strong even as standard. The duratec is newer, lighter, cheaper but not as strong and
if you want to make one as strong/reliable (for decent power, say 300+) it'll cost you as much as a standard cossy which can do that power all
day long.

But he doesn't want big power. Stock Duratec with a supercharger will make 260-280BHP all day long. Change the rods/pistons/cams and flow the
head you are into 450-500BHP territory.
Of course a F20C from a S2000 with a Rotrex on it (otherwise completely stock) will do 350BHP.
Yeah, I had sorta thought that by the time I opened up a duratec and changed parts it would cost me as much as a cosworth. What are the new cosworths
are they still cast block?
Maybe looking at an S2000 engine or something with a bit more raw power would be the way forward.

Depends how far you want to go. You can supercharge a stock engine and get mid-200s out of a Zetec or Duratec. Or you can do everything and get
400-500BHP. Pays your money....
Duratec would be lighter than the Zetec but you would still have the issue of gearbox as even the HD Type 9s (BGH, Quaife/Trans-X etc) are at their
limits with 250-280 ft lb or so.

S2000 sounds well juicy.
I think i might go for that. Are theyre many people on here building Indy's with S2000? Because not doubt I will need advice! Lol

Wht price would a decent S2000 engine run me. I know very little about them!
They fit in the mnr chassis with standard sump and 6 speed box and diff. Give mnr a call and they will make all mounts for it!

I've gone the supercharged Duratec route.. only because I was only ever going to add bodies and cams, then decided that I needed forced
induction. I spoke to TTS and a few of the others Jeff mentioned. Internals I've Cosworth pistons running 10:1compression helped with a thicker
Cometic HG. I used new standard head bolts. There's two schools of thought on the use of ARP studs / bolts being for and the other being against
as they can cause distortion under high loads/power by not being able to expand at the same rate as the alloy head/block. The fiesta hi port head
breathes a bit better so that was my starting point. Stage 2ish cams, anymore and the duration/overlap can affect the boost I added heavy duty springs
to be on the safe side.
New forged rods, mains and big end bearings, and ARP big end bolts. Standard mains bolts as ARP studs don't fit with the Raceline sump and
windage plate and also I'm in the against camp for the Duratec anyhow. The standard rods are pretty well at the limit around 220-230 bhp allowing
for a reasonable safety margin, though I've heard of some getting considerably more but its not for me.
700cc injectors and a mustang V8 throttle body on a R300 cast alloy plenum sorts the fuelling and air along with the rotrex C30-94 supercharger.
Projected BHP around 400 though I'll be happy with around 330bhp running a slightly reduced boost.
In hindsight an S2000 lump and the Supersport kit from TTS giving around 400bhp would have been a good, though slightly more expensive option.
