List of kitcar/bec insurers

Is there a list of kitcar specialist insurers? Especially ones that will cover bec's. My renewal has come around and surprise, surprise it has gone up. I've rang a few and after going all through their questions I get 'sorry but we don't do bec's'

Over on the Westfield Forum A-Plan are getting good feedback. Seems to include BEC ( like Westfield Megabusa ).
They give a discount for WSCC membership, but were the cheapest I could find even without that. ( £90 for a Westfield with 2l Zetec )

I used Sureterm for mine last time, they didn't load the policy for a bike engine even after I told them it was a zx10 engine a dozen or so times...

Does anyone know of an insurer who will include commuting and some track day coverage as well?

Beware : I used sureterm last year for my R1 Indy BEC which was only £140 ish fully comp. When I sold it, there was about 6 weeks left on the policy (approx £18) - they wanted me to pay a £50 cancellation fee and I would loose the £18 of insurance I hadn't used.
While I didn't mine loosing the remaining value of the policy, I really got the hump about paying to cancel the policy. Especially when I had just paid another £25 admin fee to change the postcode on the policy because the car was built at my fathers house 20 mins away !

They said that a limited mileage policy has a cancellation policy due to them being so cheap in the first place (not sure I get that, but hey). When I said I would just leave it to expire, they said it was illegal to have 2 insurance policies on 1 car and that telephone calls were recorded (a.k.a you have to pay up sonny jim !)

This time around with my CEC I went with Adrian Flux who also charge to cancel the policy, but I'm aware of it up front this time.

<SOAPBOX>
So the moral of the story is - only sell your car when the insurance has run out and you have to time it exactly right or else you're breaking the law and get charged a £50 fee !
</SOAPBOX>

Diito.
Sureterm have the same $50 cancellation on all theirs insurance, they just categorise every insurance they do.
I just got buttfooked the same to cancel on my Terrano, bacause the would not transfer the remaining term to another vehicle.
Sureterm stink

I see that 2gether dont seem to be getting the rave reviews that they did?
I'm still happy with a £100 policy for my BEC.
Admittedly., the value for money is not known until you make a claim, but I'll risk it a bit longer

I'm still happy with 2Gether for modified Landrover, Caravan and I had the R1 MNR with them. The one I'm building now will be with them as well. I like speaking to people who know about cars and they do.

This is what I have found so far. This is on my Mk indy R hayabusa doing 1000 miles a year, garaged and I'm 33.

Adrian Flux.......My current insurer. Wanted £183 to renew but after a call will reduce it down to £158 to beat A plan.

Frank Pickles.....Told their underwriter doesn't like bec's and had about a £350 loading to the policy. £500

2gether.......Very friendly but unable to compete. £250

Footman James.......Went all through the quote then told we don't insure bec's at all.

A plan.......As said in other posts talk to Claire. Found her very friendly and knowledgeable and beat my current renewal quote. £169

Sureterm......Haven't rang them yet but they completely messed me around last year so will probably not bother wasting my time.

Any others worth ringing?

i think the less you tell footman james the better,

if you just act stupid and only answer questions they ask, they seem to be alright.

I have rang virtually all the insurance companies who insure kits.

I have quotes ranging up to £1100.

Eventually got it down to £462

Try Osborne & Sons - they did me a competitive quote when I bought my car. 22 with points on my licence and it was very reasonable indeed. 10% discount for members of the owners club, too.

im also with osbourne n]and sons.

I kinda needed insurance quick as it was a spur of the moment buy so didn't shop around a great deal.

paying around £500 for a 919cc cbr indy, I was 24 at the time with no NCB to use on it.
if it had the 893cc engine they said it would have been £200 and sumit!!

Had a Quote from Adrian £337 Fully comp where i can drive other insured cars, thought this was great considering its a zx10r bec. Phoned A plan and they quoted £242 with cover for other cars and 90 days European cover and only £100 excess. Adrian offered me their best and cant beat it. Think ill be going with A plan.

Another black mark for Sureterm. I got a threatening letter the other day saying they were sending bailiffs after me for £53 I apparently owed them. Rung them up and found out they must have forgot to record that I had cancelled the policy 2 years ago and still wanted the money!

Think about it, think about it again and then do it.

2gether renewal; £220.19 insurance £47.50 breakdown. £267.69 total.

Same quote A-plan; £150.07 insurance and £39.95 breakdown. £190.05 total.

Ring 2gether back for a second attempt cant reduce the breakdown but miraculously the insurance drops by £83 bring the new total to £184.50 and hence £5 less than A-plan.

That for a 1900cvh engined narrowbody, 3k miles, £6k value, social&commuting, £100 excess, 'kept on drive' aged 27.
