Looks new to me, just been standing in a dusty workshop for a few years by the looks of it.

With dealerships going bust there must be lots of engines like this going around, no need to disbelieve him IMHO.

Just old stock being moved on, just confirm it turns over smoothly for £450 you are not risking much really.

ask him for te engine number then check with ford. Its my understanding that new ford engines come without a number so if he says he cant find one then your on a winner. Engine number is stamped into the backplate of the engine where the gearbox mount to.

Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Well if it has been stored as it is with the oil filler cap missing then the cams and the inside of the head will be covered in the same crap as is all over the top of the rest of the engine.......

true enough, but chances are he'd know that too, so if he knows his stuff, he'll say no even if there is. can see from the photo (as long as thats the actual one in the photo) its brand new though

he may have been confused with the camera instructions as they all tell you to remove the cap prior to taking a picture

Ive got a quid that says it doesnt have an engine number as ford would stamp your old one on to the new engine when swaping over.

That will be a pain if your iva'ing a new kit.

Looks like a new engine and its an early silver top at that.

But

With no oil cap and no cover on the exhaust and cam breather I wouldnt pay much.

It would be worth a punt at £75

I may be wrong but I thought new Ford motors were supplied bare, this one is offered with EFI, HT leads and oil filter fitted. Could be nothing, could mean something.

Its an Escort or Fiesta one, thats for sure - but 99% sure that the 115PS lump had the plastic inlet manifold...

I think asking for the 3-digits build type is the key - if its an RQA/RQB then get in there (its a 130)

Long live RWD...

There have been hundreds of brand new blacktop zetecs sold complete with all inlet/exhaust manifold, fuel rail and injectors etc. This is the state of the new engines that GBS (Robin Hood) sell.
