172 Clio Immobiliser Fault

A friends got a 172 Clio; this morning the battery was flat, battery replaced - Now the car wont start. The immobiliser light stays on constantly.

Anyone any experiance of this? The local renault dealer claims it just needs reseting, but wont elaborate on how (what a shock!)

Read a few varying ideas on how to sort it, some very odd

Any suggestions welcome!

Cheers

In the fuse box in the engine bay there wuill be 3 of 4 small rectangular relays, they are all 5 pin but some fit into 4 pin holes.

Swap these around and try and start it as if the light is on, it means the immobiliser is disarmed.

Try locking and unlocking it a few times. If not leave the ignition on for 5 minutes, this sometimes cures it. If all else fails disconect the battery and touch the 2 battery leads together for a few seconds hen reconect the battery.
