Are we that stupid ?
Do we really need the government to tell us it's hot outside and issue level 1 2 & 3 warnings, do we ?

Never underestimate human stupidity, or the nice little earners lawyers get working for the greedy stupid.

Yes, but the main reason for the warning is it frees up emergency money to deal with its effects

BT, you cynic
Was at the hospital recently as our eldest managed to break a bone in his foot and he was given leaflets on how to walk with crutches/care of cast etc
and they all had adverts for ambulance chasers on the back!

So the government admits their policies have eradicated common sense from the national curriculum, such that we need telling:
In winter its cold, and to put extra clothes on.
In summer its hot and the sun can burn you.
If you go out in the rain you'll get wet.
If you walk out in the snow you could slip and fall.
Cars don't grip very well on snow and ice.
If you trip up a kerb, it is someone else's fault
and on.....

In my area the number of stupid people you see walking the streets with serious sunburn defies belief.

In Summer 2007(?), in France, 10,000 people (mostly old folks) died of heat related problems.
Why not give a small warning that saves a few people?
Cheers,
James

To most people, we just think of it as 'hot as f***'. The heatwave warning reminds people that, though they may be fine, enjoying beers,
sun and oogling half naked ladies (...just me then?!), elderly people and infants can come to serious harm if they arent looked after.
That said, i havent bothered calling grandma...

Its not stupidity all of the time.
For me its laziness. Can I get away without hunting out the cream, spending time spashing it on. Im late and I need to get out now!
Of course, for others its the only the tan that makers. They are the type of people I find it hard to relate with.
