+4 chasis drawings
I've begun my build, or rather I've begun building my jig to weld the frame together.
I've been having fun trying to figure out proper dimensions for the +4 chassis.
what I've done is print out full frame drawing of a mcsorley "book"chassis on "architectural d" size paper (i work in an
engineering office) at 1:10 scale
then I've gone through the pdf's on mcsorleys site and scribbled in with pencil the changes in dimention.
so far everything seems to look ok.
does anyone see an issue with this method?
its too bad it was a dxf file on the net rather than a dwg, or else I gould simply streach the chassis in autocad, but as is the dimentions are not
assosiative so it would mean a lot of mucking about for the same results..

oh btw, having never seen a locost in real life, untill this moment I never really had a true appreciation for how tiny these cars are.

Can't you convert the dxf into a dwg?

yes you can but a dxf contains only the minimal stripped down amount of information, a dwg contains all sorts of useful stuff.
for example if i were to take and stretch the drawing 4" wider all the dimensions would change accordingly.
as is the numbers remain the same despite changes to the drawing.
I could strip all the dimensions off the drawing and redimension it, but that would take much more time than i (or my boss) is willing to invest.

Why not just use McSorley's +4 drawings? He has Book, +4 and +442 on his website. Here is a direct link to the +4:

the closest builder I know of is a 2 hour drive away. if you say lotus around here people look at you with a blank expression.
this is muscle car country, not too much innovative going on around here, thoughn there are a couple hot rod builders doing some interesting things.

I had a look at your website.
You've made a lovely job of that beetle- the Locost should be good.
And having always been a fan of them I can't wait to see the camper done!
