2.4 is the very quick one, 2.9 may be standard but im not sure, could be more as standard - im sure some people count the 2.9 as a quick rack.

The standard Escort rack is around 3.5, which is too slow for a sevenesque car. I have a 2.4 rack which is great for driving, but can be tiring on a
long journey especially if, like me, you've got a smallish steering wheel.
A good compromise seems to be the 2.9 - but I'm not sure if you can get that in a Sierra rack.

I found the 2.4 rack a little too quick for me - hard work on motorway cruising. I changed it for a 2.9 which was perfect.
Mind you there are some people who like even quicker racks ..... even just 1 turn

4.25 std - by heck thats a lot!!
2.9 is quite a bit faster then.
Am i right in assuming it will be quite a quick change over? Any special tools needed?

no special tools provided both racks are the same (ie unmodified!) A balljoint seperator could be handy but not needed (hammer )

quick rack
I have just binned the conventional 4.5 turn rack, for a 2.5 lock to lock rack. I drove mine to Oulton Park last saturday, and did a trackday. No
problem on motorway, and exceptional on the circuit.:

Does the 'quiker' rack have any effect on the weight of the steering?

Very little difference unless you go to extremes - a bit like fitting a smaller steering wheel really.
