"A game for thugs, played by gentlemen...."
Sadly, I think that 'fakery' is now well and truly ingrained into the fabric of football culture.

Did that goalie get stretchered off because he had to run 5 yards to not catch some guy?
Brilliant, must show that to my lad later....

I'll tell you one thing - a lot of those rugby tackles were illegal! A few were round the neck, others were lifting opponents up and tipping
them over, many were tackles off the ball. You'd get sent off in most matches if the ref or a linesman had spotted them.
Don't alter the fact that those are big tough blokes... if a rugby player goes off the field, he is HURT!
Aussie Rules football players are equally tough...
absolutely brilliant.have this arguement with a football work colleague all the time.have just sent him link.
thanks for that,it'll maybe settle the score once and for all.
I play and love rugby, therefore not the biggest fan of football, but I am not proud of some of that footage. The game was in some nasty days when
tackling off the ground, spear tackles, shoeing and other naughtness was legal or ignored.
I have also been the giver and taker of some of them 'big tackles' they are a lot of fun to be involved in and watching that vid makes me
want to smash someone.
*smash someone* is a gentlemans term, to deliberatly hurt but not harm and to be performed under strict rules while on the pitch. Not going and
punching a random!!!!
Some suicidal tackles in there Scott.
I wouldn't lower myself to comment on the over-paid actors in the first half of the link.
My favourite (legal) hit is Josh Lewsey's.

I always associate Wilkinson with the 'suicidal' tackle. He didn't half throw himself into things despite being a (relatively) little lad.
