throttle return spring

can any-one help me with fitting a throttle return spring to the carb end on my r1 powered mac 1, it has been fitted with a return spring on the accelerator pedal which i'm sure is not right as the resistance is too strong?

sometimes you find the spring on the carbs, while ok for the bikes twist grip, sometimes isn't strong enough for a pedal. this is why you've got the spring on there.

now you ask for help, but what help do you need?

which R1, I asked about this recently and someone sent me a picture of a good idea for the 5VY using the place the original throttle closing cable was fixed.

im not sure where i can mount the spring on the carb end of the cable, i do not know which r1 engine i have fitted only that it is a carb model, is there somewhere on the carbs that i can fit a spring for the best reliability as the pedal one has snapped twice!!

This is how I fitted a throttle return spring to my ZZR carbs. There is a special hole to accept the nipple and the cable was cut approx 6" from the nipple with the arrangement below fitted to the other end, it works a treat.

I have a selection box of various springs left over if you want me to send you some.

I had to fit an extra return spring to my ZZR1100 carbs fitted to pinto on Mac#1 ZR. With a lighter spring the throttle wasnt shutting off fast enough and revs were too high when changing gear. Extra spring cured it but does result in higher throttle resistance. Either get used to the throttle the way it is or try a slightly lighter spring. I bought a boxed set of assorted springs for about a tenner - worth having in stock.
