Went to my first trackday in the Mac on Sunday. It was a day of two halves, morning rain and afternoon glorious sunshine.
The morning was somewhat a baptism of fire first time out in a 7. The R888's held up pretty well really and after 3 spins I found the
"grip" levels in the wet. The spins were mainly my fault too. Either too fast in or on the power to much on the way out. I wasn't by
myself in this regard though. I'm glad my first spins were on track and not in a roadside ditch.
After lunch the sun came out and the track dried rapidly. What a difference in grip levels. The car was awesome in the corners, the willwood brakes
pulled up well and consistent. I now need to build up my confidence both in top speed and cornering as both rapidly improved through the day.
Here a a few pics of the day;

Some tyre degradation [first time out too];

Following the day I have a few issues to sort namely;
1 CV boots still leaking grease [jubilee clips are now going on]
2 Speedo was showing high temp, need to investigate.
3 Slight oil leak from engine cover
4 gear indicator liked showing both 3 and 4 as 4th when going down the box.
But in the main everything else was ok.
I'm off to Anglesey again on 4 sept where they are running two separate tracks, am and pm.

Looked like you had a good time,did you lower the tyre pressures when the track dried out as your tyres look worn in the middle more and the edges
look like new. Some circuits shred tyres, the last trackday i did in january cartagena, which is in spain shagged my tyres in 35 laps and it's
quite a short lap!This is the result.

Hi giggsy,
I was running at 18psi all round both wet and dry. In the flesh the wear seems pretty even,
Have you nitrogen in the tyre phil....?
Also how high was the temp

"was the skyline a gts 2.5 single turbo? could it keep up?"
i wouldn't know, there were about 15 of them some fast [on the straights] some not. mac defo quicker on the bendy bits, it was like following
flame throwers at times. They look sooooo big in the mirrors.

No just good old yorkshire air [from the factory] set at 18psi. I will replace with Welsh Air at some point so I will be looking for improvement
then.....
Air temp was around 20 degrees. if you're referring to water temp the guage said "hi Temp" it had gone past registering the temp. fans
were both working. I topped up with about 2 pints this morning so that was probably the reason. Mark reckons I must have had an air block, and
thrashing it cleared it through.
