Whats everybodys experience of fitting a cat. I plan to use a post 2000 R1 engine in my Mac#1 and was wondering what everyone else has done for
fitting the requiered converter.
Just for SVA or all the time? Please tell..
A cat from a scrap car will be OK so long as it has 2" O/D pipes on each end. Slip it in between your manifold and silencer and provided it is
in good condition, it will work. You may have to adjust your air fuel mixture to pass the cat test.
You want the cat off a small engined car as too big a cat will take longer to warm up. A cat from a bad engine (old design probably) will have more
heavily loaded catalyst to burn off the emissions, A classic mini might be a good option. Modern cleaner engines are fitted with lightly loaded cats
to cut down on the cost of expensive metals.
Forget about the cat for the time being. Fit the exhaust as you would. I've used an R1 end can.
Just before the SVA, use MAC#1's cat end can, Colin will make up a link pipe and bracket if required.
deff dont leave CAT on after test you wouldnt believe the power difference
