are you using the bike loom rich?

ash_hammond - 27/3/07 at 07:25 AM

Hi Rich

SNAP - i started to wire mine up last night, but i am sure you will finish 1st. Got a few weeks off over easter so hopefully it will get completed and she will be running in a few weeks time.

Thats really cool Rich, and you too Ash!

As Jos asked, are you using the full bike loom? I can see bits of bike connectors etc in the loom hanging to the floor, but are you going to use that or are you going to make a full new (lightweight ) loom?

yes guys the loom is from the bike US zx10r i have ripped out quite a bit of it and added some back in due to strange US lighting requirements.
after this evenings wireup athon most of the circuits are identified, modified or removed. the fuel pump in the tank works which is a relief as i never checked it before the tank was made.
so hopefully over the next couple of evenings i will start connecting up the cicuits and tidying up the loom hopefully to get it started at the weekend

All i have done at the moment is "poke" at the wires, not had the courage or time to actually wire anything. Hopefully next week i can close the garage door and get it the zone and have a good few days.

bigrich - 28/3/07 at 08:48 PM

just do it Ash its strangely theroputic just work mathodically one circuit at a time, i'm sure you will find it easier than you think its going to be

I'll second Rich on this one Ash!

In spite of having to have assistance from Rich and Mark in figuring out most of it when it came to making the decisions, I spent about an hour labelling everything in the first instance and then an hour or so extending everything (far too long as it wasn't in the car at the time) in the second instance, and if I had been patient instead of wanting to get it all done, and not have the guts to try and work it out for myself, it would of been relatively simple to go through one system/circuit at a time!

I have to say though, I honestly don't think I could of completed it with any sort of confidence if I hadn't had Rich and thenMark at the other end of this U2U/Forum thingy! But the ironic thing about that is, both of them are superb blokes and will offer you at least the same assistance they gave to me, I'm sure!
Having said that, in Rich's case, with you, he prob won't have to explain the same thing Four times before you get it, because wiring just doesn't make sense to me!!!

Cheers Again Rich, and you Mark!!!

All the wires are tacked in the car and the relays / fuses are mount. They are awaiting routing/cutting. I am not starting the wiring untill next week as i have time booked off work. By the time i get home in the evening got into the garage and gathered my thoughts its time to go in again. So i am using that time to get all the little jobs done so i can have a clear week on the wiring.

I tried to wire mine up a little at a time on evenings. Spent longer working out where i got up to last time than actually doing it. In the end took 2 days off work and sussed it all out quite easily.

As Rich says - methodically do one at a time and you will soon run out of wires to play with.

bigrich - 9/4/07 at 09:05 PM

well the wirings a bit tidier and almost complete. Just the savage switches and hazzard circuit to sort out.

worX - 10/4/07 at 11:42 PM

He's just biding his time until a Truly Mahoosive Turbo comes on ebay
