Slipping Handbrake

As it says really...

Can't stop my handbrake slipping.

Tighten up the adjuster on the Sierra 4x4 cable, nip up the plastic locking nut.

Pull up the handbrake and the adjusters slide over the spiral cover.

Short of Araldite, I'm lost for an answer. Anyone ?
