Hi, does anyone have any good detailed pics of where the MAC#1 fibreglass side panel and back panel join? i.e. the area below the roll bar mounts,
above the top of rear wheel arch.
I am trimming both my panels to fit and want to see how everybody else has done it..... obviously I don't want to make a mistake!
Cheers
Keith.

Best joins i have ever seen were on an early MNR where they filled the joint with gel coat and also on Hellfire 2. They made an ali trim to cover the join - and a very smart trim it was too.
I don't think I have a close up pic of mine on the early MNR but I glassed up the joint from behind then just filled it with gelcoat. Rubbed it
all down until polished to match the rest of the car and although visable were not obvious.
Steve
just checked my pictures and don't have a single shot of that joint.
If you dry fit the sides and do a vertical cut halfway across the roll bar plate/shocker centreline
then the rear panel needs a 25mm square taking from the lowerreturn at its front point to allow it to fit onto the rear chassis rail, then the overlong
top edges will over lap the sidesand once they
are level to each other can be marked and cut vertically again to give a good joint
Then the area around the shocker/spring can be trimmed back for clearence but don't go too high or the arch wont cover the cutout,
I found a joiners sliding square great for marking the straight cuts and a fibreglass blade in the jigsaw to do the cutting
Dont forget to trim back the overlap on the angles that go up to the roll bar plates from the floor level
Will take some piccys fo my joints and post them later for you

Thanks Rich, I think I've got the idea, but any pics will be very helpful. I need to see how you've cut the fibreglass around the rollbar
mounts.
Keith.
Hows the build going? You going to be able to join us for a blat this summer?
Keith
fit the sides and rear panel then when fixed in place, position the rollbar over the panels and locate with the bolts then mark around the rollbar,
remove it and trim back the panels with a dremmel type tool and sanding drum to your marked line then refit the rollbar and bolt down

Neil. The build is going great, I'm realy enjoying it. Engine/Gearbox is ready to go in [you don't happen to have an engine hoist I can
borrow?] I've rolled the chassis outside a few months ago, but it's back on the stands now, still got to tackle the wiring and lots more. I
reckon summer 09 for getting it finished. I'm in no rush, it's the building part that I like. Come over and have a look if you're
interested.
