I was there too, and the only car I can think of that fits your description was the Caterham Lavante.. 500bhp V8? Loads of carbon, was up in one of the top garages with a green Exige.

Not an Audi engine though.. one of the bike engine derived V8's 2.5 ltr I think, and Supercharged.

I wasn't there and haven't seen it, but the chances are that if it was the V8 it will have been NA or Turboe'd. The V6 bespoke engine's are the S/C ones (only in my humble experience of course...)

.... or turbo charged. Was definitely a V8 Steve.. I've a pic of the engine bay somewhere from one of his previous visits to Croft I'll dig out.

thanks Andy that's it so you think it had the powertec (radical) v8 ?
so that's 2 hayabusa engines !!!
well i only have 1 so....

it did look good

I love the person that interlopes on an RS Day. There is always one scooby and one se7en! Its only a matter of time before I go and spoil some ford fans day at brands!!

Cant help as I was not there.

thats one seriously expensive engine to run. ISTR it has a service every 20 hours or something crazy.

Steve Hignett - 11/6/12 at 07:35 PM

Well, not for long though, hey Ed!

Apologies for the size of the photo, I can't alter it on my crappy phone...

RIE - 11/6/12 at 08:15 PM

Definitely a Levante - Russell Savory engine, 550bhp, 8 of them built, over £100K

bi22le - 11/6/12 at 08:21 PM

"Supercharge boost 0.8 psi"

I know nothing about these type of engines but that seems like a rediculously small amount of benifit from a supercharger.

Why have they even bothered, surly any benifit will be outweighed by the effort to turn the SC?

Can someone enlighten me, typo?

alistairolsen - 16/6/12 at 10:48 PM

It's bound to be 0.8 bar which is ~12psi
