wife's prices
bart - 24/11/14 at 10:16 PM

I think all petrol heads should start a campaign
we should ask all online sellers to have 2 web sites
1 with the real prices and one with wife's prices : ie about 30% of real cost
of course you will not be able to buy at these prices .
but you could show the wife
" look dear team dynamic 15" wheels with toyo tires only £50 each . there a bargain ect ect "

To complicated.
If its a small box its £20, big box £50

balidey - 24/11/14 at 10:45 PM

30%? Are you mad?

1. Save page to computer
2. edit £ value in notepad
3. save and load amended page in browser

Unless she earns more than you, tell you earnt it and will spend it how you like. Then buy £5 bunch of flowers, works a treat.

sdh2903 - 24/11/14 at 11:14 PM

To be fair my mrs has never batted an eyelid about me spending on cars/kitcars i dont smoke/drink excessively/do drugs etc, cars are my hobby. Although she ever so slightly raised a brow at a stray invoice for some Stack stuff

I still do bend the truth slightly on prices though

Secret to all of this folks, never, NEVER get a joint account. Job done. or at the very least have a separate account you can siphon a little slush fund into.

The trick is not to tell her anything and get the parts delivered to your work

cliftyhanger - 25/11/14 at 07:32 AM

Experience has always shown it is best not to lie about stuff to the missus. They WILL know, the WILL find out. The answer is to just hide it. Mr Whippy has it spot on.

Isn't there a T-Shirt doing the rounds "My biggest fear is that if I die, my wife will sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it"

This is what's known as "domestic accounting" an advanced form of double entry book keeping

Benzine, I like your pc skills, that's one to note for the future.

Also when you sell a car, don't let the wife see them hand over the cash. My misses took £8k (in nice crisp £50's) into the building society the next day and paid if off the mortgage

That was my Sagaris deposit money - so now I'm scratching around for bits to build another kit car. Still, at least I didn't have to worry about rebuilding a Speed 6 motor

I can think of worse things she could have done with it, but gutting all the same
