Isle of Man TT
Rosco - 12/6/09 at 11:30 AM

I've never taken much interest in bike racing before, but have just become adicted to TV coverage of the Isle of Man TT.

Those guys are totally crazy. 200+bhp bikes, averaging 135mph+ over a 36 mile track on bumpy country roads, sometimes on a wet road. And the riders seam like normal blokes, often with other jobs. Non of the big budget F1 stuff and all the snobbery that goes with it. Unlike F1 you can also see what the guy is doing to keep it on the road.

Fantastic stuff.

yeah they are crazy, but brilliant riders, i got asked to do the TT but turned it down as i was concentrating my time on a national championship at the time & didn,t want to run risk of getting injured.
its a great feeling when it goes well ,
ahhh those were the days.

cheers
andy
ps, i came 3rd in the national championship that year.
claim to fame ..... i beat James Whitham, he,s a top team rider but now does commentary on tv for bike racing.

i went there many moons ago,a more friendly bunch you will never meet...well worth the trip but you will have to have a bike or getting around would be a nightmare

ITV4 coverage is pretty good.
And you should hear Guy Martin in interviews, he's hillarious, with brew in hand

Guy Martin reminds me of me

I think Guy Martin is after a PG Tips sponsorship and a part in there TV ads, hope he gets both.

Yet another great Lincs rider.

Throttle wide open with the bike all squirrelly like.......awesome if a little nuts

handyandy - 12/6/09 at 01:16 PM

not a little nuts..... takes "big nuts" & helps if you leave the fear part of brain in the paddock

I can beat that - I once hung his cousin over a 3rd floor balcony in Rotterdam by his ankles!

We had an idea the other evening, albeit a pi$$ed one, but a good one.

Guy Martin should run as an MP.

Could you imagine another politician trying to out talk him

Yes, though he'd have to be quick whilst Guy had a swig of tea!

(Let's hope he's finally had a win today! )

Paid a visit in 1992, on Mad Sunday weekend. Rode the track 3 times on my Ducati, no speed limits on the mountain section on the Sunday

You really got to see it with your own eyes. Watching those nutters going +150MPH between solid stone walls during the racing is something else.

The evening party atmosphere is great, very friendly, with no agro.
Get yourself over there next year. One of things to do before you pop your clogs

Not good news today though...
