Rod Ends - 10/10/09 at 12:20 AM

not really a suprise

blakep82 - 10/10/09 at 12:21 AM

left without a venue? er, silverstone?

zilspeed - 10/10/09 at 03:10 AM

Unsurprisingly, this is not currently a headline on the Autosport website, which I would suggest might be slightly more authoritative than the Daily Shock Horror We're All Going To Hell In A Handcart / It Wasn't Like This In My Day etc.

Aka The Daily Mail.

Formula One never runs out of shocks and surprises, this one has loads of mileage left in it.

but why would u want it race at silverstone it is flat and boring

Totally agree.

The GP needs to move to Donington, brilliant circuit.

I was there for the 'historic' Senna race.

Silverstone is flat and boring, circuits need up and down too, that's why Spa is the best.

franky - 10/10/09 at 08:56 AM

imagine F1 at cadwell

Best track in the country.

I agree, Donnington's a good track if a bit small for F1. For me silverstone is a bit flat and boring.

My worry is that Donninton will have over-stretched itself financially and not only will we not get a "new" Donnington we'll lose the old one.

The new GP circuit isn't that massively different from the old one.... I expect most of the changes are the executive / sponsership side of things..... Who cares?!?!

Back to Brands Hatch!

I really hope Donnington does get through this latest hurdle and does host the event, not least as a poke-in-the-eye to the “Silverstone is the true home of British F1” crowd.

I couldn’t believe the negativity towards the move by some of the established faces of formula 1 right from the offset. Likewise the British Racing Drivers'Club and its crownies, I even remember one of TV’s commentators (brundle I think) saying at the time “what about inferstructure, how will all these international teams get all there eequipment there” as if it was somehow in the back of beond. Forgetting the fact it is near two motorways, right next door to a resonable sized airport and has hosted moto GP for several years.

I think British motor racing has disgraced itself because rather than wholehartedly surporting the bid, many have actively sniped and tried to dicredit Donnington’s ambitions. This “bad press” can only have disadvanatged their attempt to raise funds and get planning issues resolved

scootz - 10/10/09 at 11:21 AM

Quelle Suprise!

And they've taken the bridge down and dug the whole place up, vandals.

F1 cars fit best at Silverstone, but the best race / challenge would be the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

Remember watching Mansell in the Turbo era going through the startline speedtrap at 194mph before braking for paddock.

On a wet trackday I was only hitting about 90mph before paddock, mind boggling!!!
