Crap Day Best Album?

Something away from the norm.

So you had a crap day get home lock yourself away, what album/s do you put on?

For me its

Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon in full SACD Glory cranked up nice and loud puts shivers down my spine every time.

Followed by Radio Head Kid A

Finally in to

Best of the Doors

I just had a pants week, and missed out on my usual stress reliever (game of squash) so tonight I started off with some angry shouty music (Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe) at high volumes in the workshop, then moved on to Black Stone Cherry, then Pink Floyd (Pulse, both albums!), and I'm currently finishing off with a good dollop of Ludovico Einaudi (Diviniere).

Feeling quite chilled now...

Bloody hell you're a right miserable bunch!

When I've had a crap day / week, then I want something to lift my spirits - not depress me further!

such as ?

I'd normally go for something really chilled out (not miserable) got a couple of hundred to pick from but these are always in the top 5:
When It Falls - Zero 7
Moon Safari - Air
Sunshine Hit Me - The Bees

For cheering up:
Any Reel Big Fish album

For getting more pissed off:
Recently Clawfinger: Life Will Kill You (or Zeroes and Heroes).

For energy:
Prodigy: Invaders Must Die or Music For The Jilted Generation

VNV Nation is good for all of the above

Dexy's first album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels (although I've edited that awful poetry track off my copy of the cd).
It's got a bit of everything.

Nothing beats the Doors for getting over a rubbish day but for me its more for the drive home than when I get in.

I usually put on the Cassette version of Hunky Dory (It has the best mix and track list of any version) to lift me up or I put on some Soul or some Status Quo.

If I'm really down then I too reach for the Cure albums but I prefer the much more upbeat Head on the Door or three imaginary boys. That or Let it Be, thats a great album to mellow out to.
