Clutch Cable Adjustment
Hi,
Fitted the clutch cable supplied by MAC#1 over the weekend and although it did not initially fir the bracket on my CBR954 engine, a little bit of
persuasion with a large screw driver got the job done.
My question is, is there a way of knowing whether the clutch is fully disengaged when the pedal is not depressed or is it just something I will need
to wait and see.
Secondly, the return spring on the clutch arm thing on the engine is fairly week and not strong enough to reliably push the cable and pedal back to
the normal position. Do I need to fit another spring somewhere?
Any thoughts of comments would be great.

Don’t you mean the clutch is 'engaged' when the pedal is not depressed, right?
If the clutch is set up properly the springs that press the clutch together are also the ones that return the pedal, usually these are pretty strong,
there should be a little play in the pedal when released (a few mm) though and this is your indication that the clutch is fully engaged. To check it
works without starting it up, pop it gear and then press the pedal down, you should be able to turn the output shaft easily by hand.

The little clutch spring thisng you refer to has little effect other than to keep a bit of tension on the cable.
Once you push the pedal, the big springs inside will definatly pull it back OK!
Jus make sure you have a couple of mm of free play before the pedal goes hard and the clutch disengages thats about it.
Worth noting also, you may need to fit a pedal stop to prevent over travel once the clutch is disengged and prevent snapping the cable when in
enthusiatic mode

I have just re drilled the clutch pedal on mine, hoping it gives me more feel on the biting point, also a full pedal swing only gives about 15-20mm of
travel on the clutch arm, worth thinking about.

Mine has no real play in it. If you depress the pedal and can turn the output shaft your ok. If you cant its not disengaging.
I set mine to just off where i can push the arm too (Lines up at 90deg to cable end)
Springs have no issue pulling it all back into line tho they are now uprated.

Ok, tried as suggested this weekend, and when it is in gear, I can not turn by hand so I am not sure if it i dis-engaging at all?
There is also a little play, is this normal.
I think maybe I will ask MAC1 to take a look when it goes in for the exhaust.
