you have a specific car in mind or the Mac 1 in general?? Very good kits, but as with all kit cars, it is how they are put together that really
counts. Pick a good one and you wont go far wrong - same goes for similar products from MNR, MK etc

It should have quite a bit of head work for 170bhp (maybe a stage 2 ported and polished head?) and some pretty aggressive cams IIRC.
40s may be a little restrictive at the top end for the 170s - but thats just IMO.
If its all kosher then youd be buying a nice show car that had basically a race spec pinto in it - a good buy

i though it must of had alot of tunning. i was also thinking with 40's on it 170 would be a wee bit restrictive. but then id have to do the
valve stem seals and other things maybe suspect and i will be giving it a thrashing.

That was there own demo car from 2004/5. Its the car that made me choose my first Mac#1 kit after a few laps of Elvington.
Mark at Mac#1 still has a soft spot for this car. Give him a call
A pint for the gent and a white wine/fruit based drink for the lady. Those are the rules

Its a good car, or at least was. Again the car that inspired me.
Im still undecided about selling mine. Would be a bit cheaper than the yellow one too.

I dont think valve stem oil seals are too big a job on a Pinto (and they are pennies each!!) so wouldnt be too put off if thats all the engine needs.
Also the twin 40's wouldnt put me off either - with the price they sell for 2nd hand on ebay, you could probably fund a bike carb conversion
with little or no extra cost (thats if indeed the 40's are restrictive!!)

Valve stem oil seals on a pinto are cam over off, valve slippers out, push some cord into the cylinder via the plug hole and wind to TDC, depress
spring and remove collets, swap seals and put back together, a three hour job at most.
But why bother, a little extra lubrication is okay on a track car, some tuners deliberately leave the seals off, unless the valves are now wobbly and
worn!

Did they say its definately the valve stem seals, or is it just smokey?
Unless you know what it definately is, it could end up costing you more.
And yes 170bhp with 40s does sound a lot!
