don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Why, are you getting pr0n popups everytime you accelerate?

Serious answer:
yes i suppose it's possible given that a virus is basically just a piece of malicious code that does something unwanted.

How would it spread, what would it do and why would someone want to write it in the first place?

Hehe I smell a conspiracy, Omex or someone creating a virus to wipe our homebrew ECUs

Edit:

too slow
given your own response there, I'd say don't worry about it too much about it!

a computer virus, no matter what it is will onlt run if the operating system is there to run it. ie, windows.

thats why there;s so few viruses on mac's, because people don't really bother writing them for mac.

since megajolt doesn't run windows or mac os, megajolt will be safe from your laptop viruses. can't say the same for megasquirt though, it might squirt too soon if it gets an eyeful of porn

Would anyone bother doing it? No....
But it's a good idea!

Exactly. The chances of spreading a virus to an ECU are nill, but the chances of all these viruses causing problems with the ECU tuning software are a lot higher.
