3.92 Diff
Hi,
Been awhile but, I currently have a 3.62 LSD fitted which at 70mph is about 2750rpm ish which suits the V8 and car. Problem I have is the bearings in
the diff are now stuffed, cost of getting someone to replace bearings is very expensive, 3.62 Diffs are also very expensive, a mate has a 3.92 LSD
7" not 7.5", which would fit not probs, but I'm concerned about the affect it will have on driving i.e rpm when cruising and wether
such a diff would be too higher ratio for the lazy V8.
Any opinions appreciated.
Regards
Darren

I would suggest grabbing a copy of the gearcalc program and running the scenarios.
look on locost.info for the download.

I prefer the 3.9 ratio...I've swapped recently to a 3.6LSD from a standard 3.9, and miss the shorter gearing.......
I'd go for the 3.9 if possible, you could always swap back.....

its would be about 8% higher rpm for any given road speed
(3.92/3.62 = 1.08 = +8%)
so that would be 2977rpm @70mph
3.62 LSD's are the most common ones and should be easy(ish) to find
if you get the 3.92 LSD you could swap it for a 3.62 LSD (I sure someone will want to swap)
or you could just rebuild the one you've got...
(btw - all 3.92 and 3.62 diffs are 7", the 3.91 and 3.64's are 7.5" )

Because the V8 revs out lower than the 4 cylinder engines and has more torque the 3.6 or 3.38 is a better choice.
I have a 3.6 LSD but also want a 3.9 LSD
may be up for a swap or buy your mates 3.9 if you don't have it
