why me????????????????

got home from a meet yesterday
happily breaking as much speed limits as i can ....

all off a sudden i noticed a vibration when i come off the throttle
limped it home only to find the prop[shaft bolts came loos

this morning took propshaft out to find the bolt which secures the cup to the sprocket drive has sheered
bloody thing

just oredered a angle drill to drill it out ....lucky i used plenty off locktight to make sure it will be nice and tight for me to remove

I wouldn't be using the smiley... think I'd be using the smiley as I reckon you've been pretty damn lucky that it didn't let go when you were breaking all those speed limits (happily).

and to me...

have you got prop catchers fitted ?

if not now would be a good time to fit them while your in there anyway - that way if it ever did let go you can minimise the damage to the car (and your legs!)

Yikes! It's not good to imagine what could happen worst case scenario... I know it's a p1sser when anything like this happens, but it does sound like you've got away lightly

What does anyone think a reasonable spanner check interval should be

its just a close fitting hoop that goes around your prop leaving a close fit so the prop wont flail if it lets go it will just run round in side the hoop till you stop safely will minimal damage
