I just had a pants week, and missed out on my usual stress reliever (game of squash) so tonight I started off with some angry shouty music (Scar
Symmetry - Holographic Universe) at high volumes in the workshop, then moved on to Black Stone Cherry, then Pink Floyd (Pulse, both albums!), and
I'm currently finishing off with a good dollop of Ludovico Einaudi (Diviniere).
Feeling quite chilled now...

Bloody hell you're a right miserable bunch!
When I've had a crap day / week, then I want something to lift my spirits - not depress me further!

I'd normally go for something really chilled out (not miserable) got a couple of hundred to pick from but these are always in the top 5:
When It Falls - Zero 7
Moon Safari - Air
Sunshine Hit Me - The Bees

For cheering up:
Any Reel Big Fish album
For getting more pissed off:
Recently Clawfinger: Life Will Kill You (or Zeroes and Heroes).
For energy:
Prodigy: Invaders Must Die or Music For The Jilted Generation
VNV Nation is good for all of the above
If disfunction is a function, then I must be some kind of genius.

Dexy's first album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels (although I've edited that awful poetry track off my copy of the cd).
It's got a bit of everything.

Nothing beats the Doors for getting over a rubbish day but for me its more for the drive home than when I get in.
I usually put on the Cassette version of Hunky Dory (It has the best mix and track list of any version) to lift me up or I put on some Soul or some
Status Quo.
If I'm really down then I too reach for the Cure albums but I prefer the much more upbeat Head on the Door or three imaginary boys. That or Let
it Be, thats a great album to mellow out to.
In a White Room, With Black Curtains, By the Station.
