Out with the rotary and in with a Vauxhall

As some of you know my car has mazda rotary power. But its proving a bit hard to sell the car with that engine but I can sell the engine on its own.I want to then put a vauxhall red top engine in and sell the car that way. I figure I can still get the same money for it in the long run but I will have to do a bit of work obviously.
So whats needed.
I have Engine(needs changing to carbs) Type 9 box(not a problem)Bell housing and Exhaust(I have one available to me)
Sump?,Propshaft.
Is there any thing I have to do to the coils pack on the engine and is there ant thing else I need. As starnge as it may sound a piston engine is as alien to me as a rotary to some of you
Look forward to your answers
Cheers
Brian

ECU and wiring are the obvious things you'll need to consider - unless it has a distributor (in which case its just the wiring).

How much are you looking for for the rotary? I've been considering one for my build once i move house after xmas.

Seems a bit odd to me.
If I was looking to buy, I'd buy it BECAUSE it has the rotary, for interest value. And the performance of course.
Seems a lot off trouble to go to to sell it.

as above, i know its not the best time of year to try to sell but where are you trying to sell it? places like pistonheads might be an idea, as would mazda forums think you need to get to the people who want it for being mechannically different/interesting.

also, what sort of price can you get for the rotary engine, compared to selling all the redtop engine gearbox stuff?

would also need to considder changing engine/gearbox mounts etc so bet it wont be as straight forward unless the red top was orignally fitted? also registration docs change details before selling.

finally may be worth posting a copy of you advert up for constructive comments?

Just one question? - why change to carbs? I fitted a red top complete 'as is' and it sounds sweet. Was a tight fit in the chassis with the huge inlet manifold, but it went in. What's all these ideas with fitting bike carbs and your own ECU when it pumps out 150bhp as standard?

Really suprised you can't sell it with the rotary fitted

Not that many about with that engine fitted and folks usually like something abit different

Have you tried all the different websites to try and sell it ?

Might be worth trying to sell it next spring

Not too sure you'll get back what its going to cost you to change it all tbh

Hi Brian

This is the bit you need

http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Carburettor_Kits/Carb%20introduction%20&%20ign%20only%20kit/Carb%20intro%20&%20ign%20only%20kit.htm with the tps

I don't think its cheap......

Have you written a list of what everything is worth e.g uprights £50, wishbones £250, Westfield chassis with reg...... might be worth breaking the whole car rather than trying to put another engine in it

Thanks for your replies
I am trying to make the car more sellable to a wider range of people. Its only for sale as a current shall we say "dispute" between myself and someone else(not the sheila by the way) means it may have to be sold. things are getting a bit ugly. It doesnt mean I will be staying away from the rotary engine for another mental project in the future, but by selling the car it severs ties with some one and I walk away happy......very happy
