Cleaning my sump
After my coolant problem, I've finally got my sump off.
In the bottom of it is a nasty mix of old oil, water and coolant, which I don't want to circulate around the engine. Is there a good way of
getting the crud out and getting my sump back to a spangly shiny state?
Regards,
Dave

Clean as much crud out as possible, then solvent wash (Gunk or kerosene or white spirit or cellulose thinners} then use pressure washer.

Wait tlll the wife has gone to bed then chuck it in the dishwasher, most of my engine parts went through, and then put it through a service wash with
just the tablet in, she never knew to this day !!!

I washed my sump and baffle plate in the dishwasher but I left it there.
Luckily the wife hadn't a clue what it was.

Thanks for the ideas. I value my sex life too much to do the dishwasher thing so I got a bottle of washing up liquid and poured it in to emulsify the
old oil. Lots of hot water and scrubbing with a brush. I then rinsed it out with cold and dried it off with rags. I've now left it stuffed
with kitchen roll to absorb the last dregs of water.

Parafin, Gunk or Fairy power spray will do the trick
