Westfield / Locost type kit car - 151387055239

Despite being great to drive I have decided that my pride and joy should be sold. I am just not getting the time to drive and enjoy it, so it is time for a new owner; someone who can use and enjoy it to the full.

The car was registered in 2010 as a Campbell KC7 and is based on the Ron Champion Locost but as you can see it has Westfield bodywork. It is powered by a Ford Kent (xflow) and has only covered in the region of 500 miles since then.

So, some details:-

The chassis was professionally fabricated.

The body panels are genuine Westfield Sportscars items sourced new from Westfield and some used items from a Westfield specialist. Whilst entirely presentable there are some minor defects on the used panels (scratched or redundant holes) but the longer term plan had been to paint or wrap the car to eradicate these.

The engine is a Ford Kent (or Crossflow as it is commonly known). It started life as a 1.6GT engine but in the course of a thorough rebuild is now 1660cc. It has:

o 711M Engine block

o GT Head with unleaded conversion

o New pistons and rings

o Crank reground

o All new bearings throughout (Mains, big end, small end and cam)

o A new Kent Cams BCF2 cam and followers

o New timing chain, followers and tensioner and Vernier timing gear

o Steel crank pulley

o Steel rocker posts and shaft

o New water pump

o Bespoke aluminium header tank, oil breather tank, battery cradle

o New high capacity oil pump

o Electronic Ignition

o New Alternator

o Fully rebuilt Twin 40DHLA Dellorto Carbs

o Electric fuel pump and Filter King pressure regulator

o Stainless steel 4into1 tubular exhaust.

o Set up on rolling road by specialist giving 102BHP at the wheels.

The four speed gearbox has also been refurbished (with assistance from experts at Lola Cars) with new bearings and seals and couples the engine via a new clutch and propshaft to a Cortina rear axle.

The interior uses Intatrim Odyssey seats, 4 point harnesses and is complimented with bespoke dials and gauges and aluminium switches and a new Chrome Westfield roll bar.

The wheels are new 14” Ford items; which I liked as a modern take on the traditional mini-lights and all five have new Avon tyres.

Throughout the build I have used new parts, especially where safety is paramount. So items such as the brake master cylinders (Wilwood), brake lines, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, shoes, ball joints, track rod ends and suspension bushes, shocks and springs are all new items.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the car.

The car has a new MOT and is taxed to the end of this year.

The price on ebay is a little aspirational but willing to talk for fellow locosters!
