Nice Sunday Drive
Well at last ive been able to get out and enjoy the car. Not only is MAC#1 a truly legendary supplier in the kit car world they also enabled the
select few to build a truly superb car. Recently they were compared in a magaine to Westfield, what an injustice, id say they are a real competitor to
Caterham themselves.
Anyway i digress, I got ratted in the garage last night whilst giving the car The Zymol Carbon treatment. Looks a million dollars for a real good
polish (Zymol kit cost £99 - akin to diamondbrite etc) After that a good mate called round today which gave me the excuse to have a nice (albeit
freezing) drive out. 2 up the car felt good. Cold country roads were slippy but what a buzz. Nice bit of sideways junction play was nice. Cant wait
for next excuse!?
Ive now set the suspension up to Mac#1 recommendations bar the toe in (im stil sussing that out). Car is transformed from the original SVA
settings.
Forgot to say that ive also cut out bonnet bulge and done the side vents as well. Looks well smart and seems to aid air flow to restructive carb
filter.
What did you get up to today?

Performance is better than my driving skill now. 12deg advance seems to be good starting point. Just need to reset toe in to complete basic set up. If
i keep the revs up it seems to go very well. Might have the gearing out but time and experience will tell. Some of the countryroads were slippy at
4pm. It got v.cold. Still had fun tho'. Was pulling 90 up a big hill so i guess its not really as slow as i make out. Cat quite make 60 in 2nd
so 0-60 time suffers 3rd gear change.
Out of curiosity - mine does 30mph in 3rd gear at 2,200rpm. What do similar pinto cars do??? Mark suggested it should do 30 in rd at 2000 rpm. Ive no
idea what diff ive got - believed to be std 2.0 DOHC 1991 diff (tag missing).
They are certainly quick. Im really pleased that it drives so well, not at all like a kit, more likely a well developed sportscar.
I took 3yr old daughter out today as well, she loves it, laughs her head off just gets bitterly cold. She had to put a long sleeved blouse on
today!!!!!!
My cheeks have been aching as well - not as bad if i take wallet out of pocket tho'.
Eeeh god - jos's bird - she'll no doubt give me a big slap for that. Thank god he has good sense of humour. More pics - go on then. In for
a penny in for a pound.........

Just been for another drive out. My god its slippy out there on the back roads. I need to get some sideways experience. My un-honed driving skills are
really the weak point with this car!!!
I was setting the rear camber up last night - needed to go for a drive to settle the suspension down so i can do a final check. Nice excuse eh??? It
drives so much better since i set up the front camber with a gauge and toe in by eye. Next major set up job will be carb mixture.
I have to say im really enjoying the tweeking stage now im roadworthy. Roll on the good weather.
I have just been told about the better driving track days at Elvington. Designed to give plenty of opportunity for getting it wrong so you can learn
how to control the car. Ill have to do some investigation into that.
Well ill have to think about cleaning it again now. Bloody filthy! I gave it a good Zymol polish the other day as well (£99 Zymol kit!!).
