Interior rear view mirror

not sure if this has been asked before..tried a search and nothing!

Do you need an interior rear view mirror for sva or are wing mirrors with suitable field of view acceptable?

cheers

You have to have one for the SVA, as a rule, but it doesn't have to be one that is useful.
It could be stuck in the middle of your dash pointing to the floor for all they care!

Yes you need one.
And it does have to work.
My first kit failed due to the examiner not being able to see the correct field of vision from the interior mirror.

I was told I did not require one as my vision to the rear was obscured by a rear bar and you could'nt see naf all anyway.

Exterior are required.

I was informed you need to have one but it doesn't actually have to be all that helpful in passing the field of vision test as long as the wing mirrors are sufficiently useful to pass on them alone. But you still need one.... Kind of like on production supercars where the rear view mirror gives naff all FoV.

Stafford Vehicle Components have a range and Car Builder Solutions have a couple too. SVA gives a little room, seems they are necessary if there is some vision - got to be a good idea anyway?

i can't comment on sva compliance but tesco have cheapo suction cup mirrors - think they're meant as a temporary replacement though.

as i understand things if there is any rearward vision then there needs to be a mirror.

In cases like the avelle GTA and the Aeon then there was no rearward vision then the external mirrors have to ne good enough to pass FoV test

in addition, anything that is considered temporary ie a stick on mirror or stick on foam on sharp edges is either heavily frowned upon or a specific no no ie it will not be taken into consideration and therefore a fail if the underlying problem is not sorted ie a permantently fixed mirror
