Thinking of selling my indy
lotusmadandy - 12/6/12 at 06:04 PM

Hi all,

After thinking long and hard about this i am seriously thinking
about letting my beloved Indy go to a new home.
It seems that whenever i am at work the sun shines, then when i am
off it rains Add to this the fact that i only covered 180 miles last year.
I think the deciding factor is going to be Newark, the weather is looking
crap again.
I am considering a couple of fun cars to replace it,
the first is the tried and trusted MX5 and the other is a Porche boxter.
I know peoples thoughts on both but i am strangely drawn to the boxter

If i do decide to sell my Indy, the wife will have to hand over the keys to the new owner.

it depends what your after, unless you can afford the new boxster i would have a mk3 2.0 mx5 over the older one as you can get them for similar money!

but if you want a serious toy my choice would be a heavily tuned mk1 mx5 i used to have a turbo'd one running 220bhp and it is one of the most fun cars i have owned, they are pretty indistructable too, i have seen people get close to 300bhp reliably on standard internals. Mine although i am biassed i thought was alot nicer looking than most cars on the road.

Yes, i have been looking at turbo'd mk1's myself.
You can buy a decent one for around 4k.

I have seen at a 2000 boxter at a local garage, its on the forecourt
for 5k.I know its going to have high mileage for that price though.

I personally think they look like a dogs dinner , so much promise if it had only been thought through a bit more like a full flip front instead of the abortion of a bonnet, a tail gate added as the flimsy rear perspex window is too low, and the door locks shaved an poppers put in.

These types of "re-bodies" really need to be made to look a little more "factory"

I think the MX250 from tribute automotive gets closer to the mark, bit the holes in the rear arches land the triangles on the nose let it down for me but it has much more promise than the abortion from mev..

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

I had set my mind on building a SR2 from Road Runner Racing LTD, but after the debacle with their lack of customer service, I have thought sod it im not going through this to build a kit car & have kinda decided on a Mazda Mx5.
