I haven’t got much of this summer left so its time to have a go at the iva. Ive been putting this of for a loooooong time.

I need something to work to. So I am looking for a hand to spot the fails and suggestions for fixes would be gratefully received. Some bits I know about and some I may not.

So here are a couple of pics.
















I will start the list.

1) tyres only T rated fix = hand in pocket for some H rated rubber.

2) O2 sensor edges / cover. Any ideas ? What have you passed with ?

3) Gear and hand brake gaitors. What have you fitted and needs to be cheap.

4) Edge at the front top of the rear arches near elbows. Any ideas ?

5) What are people using for the track rod extension and locking nut cover ?

6) teather the filler cap.

7) Front indicators may need spacers as they are on the limit at 400mm from the outer edge.

I will order a bag of nut covers latter on.

The dreaded side repeaters ?

Oh, just seen them on the rear wings. But do check they are visible 5 deg to the rear.

I used a cable gland over the track rod adjusting nut which passed OK.
You will need to cover the top ball joint / adjuster, I used rubber sheet and put holes in the edges to pass a cable tie through.
U trim on the underside of headlight mounts.
I covered the top of the body by the rear arches with hockey trim covered in Di-Noc vinyl.
You may need to radius the edge of the threaded boss at the rear of the seat.
Is the fog light vertical?

If you are about tomorrow morning i will pop over with some cable gland covers, i have some spare nut covers as well. What sort of time ?

Couple of other bits I think...
Top inner edge of the side panels look like they might need radiusing.
Front wishbone mounts and headlight brackets. Are they radiused or covered?

For the O2 sensor could you put some heat proof slieve over it? The stuff Rally Design sell to put over pipes made of the same woven glass and silver foil as heat proofing sheet.

For the gear lever gaiter you could probably get away with a CV boot.

Front indicators do llok a bit narrow. Widest part is usualy the rear wing. Did you measure from there? If not make some (temporary) spacers. Just some wooden blocks would do if you cant come up with anything else.

I am not a 100% on this but does the transmission tunnel edge needing radiusing as well, or has that been done only I cant make it out in the picture?

Have a look at your rear reflectors. I had some similar stick on round ones and got caught out. Had to get the blister style ones.

Do your mirror's meet the dimension requirements? They look at little small. Also the edge of the interior panels might need edge protection.

My thoughts, All front suspension edges as you've said, including lower edges of headlamp mount.
Unsupported section of fuel hose in engine bay (returnto swirlpot I think)

indicators look to far in - measure this according to the IVA manual.

I take it you have boots for the track rod half nut?


sharp edge on steering arms, no really!!!

a 5 minuite introduction to Mr Angry will sort that out - see photo below; the shiny bit is where paint was removed to sort out the "sharp edge".

Thanks for poping over Mike thats a few more jobs of the list. Thats the glands for the track rod lock nuts sorted.

Mirrors, I read them as plenty big enough. edges are blunt but there is not enough plastic to radius 2.5mm and basses are a worry.

Rear reflectors, Hmm again what I would call a close call. I will look for some more.

Transmision tunnel has rubber trim on the edges.
