Evening Gents,
Yesterday i purchased a Part built MK Indy and would like to fit a LSD to the rear axle.
Can anyone tell me which axle this is from please?
Thanks
Ryan
english from say a mk2 escort so its not an Indy its an MK locost.
im afraid you dont have an indy, as the name suggests it should have an independant rear suspension from a ford sierra.
it looks like you have a MK lowcost with prehaps a ford escort rear axle.
ditch
It was advertised as an Indy so i didn't think to much of it at the time as was too busy looking at other parts.
Have i got a leg to stand on with false advertising?
Thanks for replies guys

Don't panic, there are quite a number of people who think a live axle has some advantages over an independent axle if the rest of the car is ok then depending on how much you paid it could still be good
Here is the Ad for car
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=170866801597&nma=true&rt=nc&si=9Ftmh%252FbCfcNzi0fUubtPKV

Paid £3300 for it all
Its still made by the same people, and you were not aware that it should have indepedent susp then its not much of a problem as you must have been
happy to purchase.
To be fair it looks like you got quite a bit of kit there for the money.
I seem to recal someone posting a similar query about their MK indy that was infact an MK locost not so long ago.

Thanks for replies guys.
How much torque will this axle take guys?
Anyone got an LSD for this Axle with like a 4 ~ 4.5 ratio?
Ryan
Its still not a bad buy at £3300 even if its not a Indy as already said above, I would rather have a MK locost, will make a nice little car when finished, and a great handling car on track, I would not get too hung up by fitting a LSD to that axle yet, get the car finished and IVA'ed, then look at doing mods after that, with just a zzr1100 you might find with some sticky tyres you don't need one
as everyone els says an early MK Lowcost based around the Ron Champion if it is chasis 00005 then a really early one I believe Martin Keenan prefered the solid axle set up it is a tried and tested set up you will probably have cortina upright and escort steering rack.
From what I recall it was not that Martin preferred anything, it was just that he was supplying book chassis's for those who didn't want to /couldn't build one from scratch themselves.
