Rose joint sizing?

I am really struggling to find the correct bushes for my trailing arms and I am now thinking about using rose joints? Would this be ok? If so what size thread would be suitable? It needs to for an M12 bolt through it. Was looking at a SAK12M or similar?

Lots of discussion on this. The conclusion from those in the know was that the trailing arms on a live axle car need some compliance.

If you are going to remake the arms for track rod ends you may as well make them for poly bushes that you can get hold of.

Poly bushes wont be suitable on the trailing arms of a live axle car, you need something which can accomodate both the radial and the angular deflection which the bush will see when one wheel rides over a bump and the axle skews.

So it needs to be rose joints then? Unless there are any other options?
I've found PTFE lined, Kevlar lined and standard bronze bushed ones but don't know which would be best.

Rod ends on a live axle are no good, as one end lifts the axle will twist so fit rose joints at both ends = fractured brackets.

If nothing else you need to keep rubber bushes at one end.

Interesting... I believe Ginetta supplied rose joints to all points bar the panard rod.

Might go a check the manual, but (although not myself) the car has done plenty of races, and there is no sign of bracket issues.

So if I have rose joints I will have lateral movement even with a pan hard rod but if I have bushes I won't get twist on bumps. What am I meant to do then? What would be best? I don't want one of each.

I had a look... It appears a previous owner has changed the bushes for rose joints.

There is no evidence of bracket issues, although the arms do bolt direct through the chassis tubes.

i am just going to remake them with new bushes i think, They have failed because they were undersized and poorly supported at the shoulder of the bush. i am going to use 25mm ones this time from superflex from a TVR tuscan etc. 2 bushes and stainless tubes for £35.
