Progress on my jago geep project
corrado vr6 - 22/9/13 at 07:50 PM

Hi there, I just thought I would post up some pics after so many people have helped me on here with fibreglass advice.

Bit of background info, I'm putting a jago body onto an sj suzuki and thought I'd share my progress

First of all I had to extend the tub by 90mm to fit the chassis

With the tub now extended

Then I set about making my wings wider

I then set about putting a new floor in

Now the fun bit the rear lights

Some really nice work there and looks good on that chassis.

Looking good, restoring a Jago myself at the moment. Have done a full strip down and ground up rebuild. I'm about 80% done so not long now.

snippy - 22/9/13 at 08:08 PM

Where did you get your tyres from?

corrado vr6 - 22/9/13 at 08:13 PM

Thanks both for the comments

The tyres were what came with the jago when I bought it, but I've since put them on some banded dihatsu wheels.

corrado vr6 - 22/9/13 at 08:15 PM

Here is how it looked before I pulled it apart

I hope that isn't cannabis growing round the bench

Haha just a bit of foliage

nick205 - 23/9/13 at 12:38 PM

Looking good!

Have you still got the MK as well (always keep an eye out for you, but never seen it on the road)?

corrado vr6 - 23/9/13 at 01:12 PM

Yeah still got the Mk however it hasn't been through IVA yet, test is due on 29th October, I think I got distracted with other projects lol

trextr7monkey - 23/9/13 at 04:40 PM

Excellent, should see you on the road soon then.

Are you doing it in Southampton?

corrado vr6 - 23/9/13 at 10:03 PM

Yep southampton, just got to hope the weather is good for the drive down now

Thought I would update this

I have redone my wings as I had extended the others to much and they looked silly

After extending the body tub by 90mm it's now all filled and straight again

Tacked on some body mounts

I have extended the original sj tunnel to better suit the jago

I then made a curved 3mm box section to help mount my steering and pedals from the sj

Steering all mounted

I then modified the sj pedal box to better suit the jago body and help angle the servo down so it didn't hit the bonnet

Made up a throttle pedal bracket

Then I've reformed my bulkhead to suit the sj steering and pedals

Even incorporated a new battery box

And finally I've just started to glass it all back together

More than a few hours gone into that, looking really good, you must be immune to the styrene fumes by now, back lights look tidy too.
what will final colour scheme be? Any plans to try and subtly alter angle of screen to improve mpg/aerodynamics without killing the jeep look?
Keep at it, it will be a beast

How is this coming along?

02GF74 - 8/11/14 at 08:26 AM

Some good work there. Keep ay it and carry on with the updates.

corrado vr6 - 8/11/14 at 11:02 AM

Ok I do have some updates, here you go

Managed to make a box so the clutch cable has something to pull against

Made a clutch pedal stop

Extended and fibreglassed in the original sj tunnel

I managed to win some leather electric Porsche seats on eBay for £92! Heated too, after some head scratching I worked out the wiring with some help off of here (LCB)

The body had a slight twist so had to cut a bit of floor out and put it back to the right shape

I then started on the tailgate (not finished yet)

I'm now at the stage of mounting the front panel and wings properly and incorporating the light mounts

I've had to extend the ears on the front panel so I have something to bolt through to the new mounts

Lights in but had some clearance issues

To make the lights fit I had to modify them by putting a flat section in

I'll keep the updates coming when I move off this sofa and get cracking again

corrado vr6 - 15/2/15 at 09:52 AM

Another update

I've made a center support for the front seats to bolt too

Next was to make a folding rear seat, first of all the back rest was sitting a bit high so I cut that down and joined it back together

Then I made some folding front supports

Then made a collapsible rear support to give a bit of boot space when no one is in the back

Using some clips from the sj rear seats I modified them to clip the seat down to the body

Next was to make a mock up roll bar to give to someone to make a strong single piece bar, so here's the template

Next step will be bumpers and side steps I think

coozer - 15/2/15 at 10:24 AM

Excellent, really need to get going with mine again....

02GF74 - 15/2/15 at 10:53 AM

Its getting there.

Re: rollbar . Why not have straight side supports? Will be stronger than having curverd section, one less bend to make = cheaper.

Dint quits folkow the chopping of headlifht bowks. The 7? in muni/ landrover lamps woukd fit from th front and the bowls, available in plastic so wont rfust, lool to be less deep.

trextr7monkey - 15/2/15 at 10:56 AM

Looking really good.
I have a set of Jago 10 " wide wings lurking if anybody else is doing one of these.

Update

Well I've had the rollbar bent up with the help of a mate

Have even done the tricky cuts too (don't worry a gap will be left for welding)

Even managed to bend some tube for the side steps

I then focused on the front bumper

Rossmcleod - 1/7/15 at 03:00 PM

It's coming together mate
looking good
