figured I would start a thread for it as I will be tinkering with it.
Bit of backround - Turned 30 on March 14th and sold my Evo 6 on March 7th, decided I wanted a kit car and this came up on Ebay, problem being I'm
in Inverness and it was in Applebay, another issue my only free day was Marth 12th BUT I was going to New York for my birthday on the Sunday and also
I don't own a car trailer, so with the wife moaning at me I decided me and my mate would leave Inverness on Saturday at 3:30am with a rented car
trailer, got back at 7pm as there was crazy traffic, went to bed got up at 7am and then headed to Edinburgh to the Scotland vs France game, after that
drove to Aberdeen and got in at 10pm had a nap up at 3am to fly to NYC, was shattered but worth it.
I've always had fast cars, Escort Coswroth, Evo 8 x2, Impreza classic STI, Bug, Hatch, Type R, 4 x E46 M3s, Focus RS MK1 +2, RS Turbo, you get
the idea I'm a petrol head, always fancied a kit car but never really looked into it. Spotted this and here we are.
Its already a decent set up with some good quality parts but want to put my own touches on it, it came with FOLDERS of history, all the build pics,
every MOT and receipt.
I love it, it has a flat spot and decided to trailer it to a local tuner (Ricky Gauld) yesterday so he has it for the week so will hopefully be back
running perfect.

Welcome to the club buddy
Good choice of car too. I'm on my second kit and opted for the SEiW too. Its been modded heavily now and love it to bits.
Liking the colour too, very different indeed.
Good luck with it.
... Does it have any brakes ?
Looks nice, but personally not sure of the colour ... lol..
Whats the plans for use, trackdays or something competitive...
Plans
Use it for weekends on the roads we have up here, do some sprints, trackdays and maybe move into something competitive.
It has been at the engine tuners all week getting the carbs done ect, got a call last night to say its all ready and running mint BUT the big ends
are beginning to make a noise, so leaving it to have them done only thing is i wont get it back for 4 weeks but should be in time for the good
weather.
Was booked to be doing a spring day today but have managed to sell my entry on.
I'm moving house in 3 weeks and the new pad has a massive garage, enough for me to make a temp spray booth so going to change the colour of the
car when i get it back, was thinking orange but have seen a few others I quite fancy.

Love the colour myself, very different but looks well done.
First mod for me would be to remove the boat anchor, especially given the last of previous cars you've had!

No real update, still going to be a couple of weeks till I get it back.
Got a few wee bits for it, silicon rad hose, new headlight bulbs and a couple of up to date switches.
Will have it back just in time for summer.

I have forgot to update this.
I still don't have it back.
Upon removing the sump the engine builder found a crack in the crank and 1 new bearing disguising the crack, it was bodged for me to buy by the looks
of it, also a damaged conrod and pistonring.
Anyway i went for a full engine rebuild, just renewed everything, got a nitrated race crank from a Formula Ford car and a few other go faster bits.
So hoping to get the car back this week.....
Got a load of new bits for it at my house so will get more fettling done when back and will still get a few months out of it before hibernation.
Here is the update I have been waiting for.
Got the call that the car was ready for pick up on Wednesday just passed so got my father in law to meet me there and collect the car.
It was as dusty as hell but most importantly it was running, I did not stop grinning.
So glad to get it back.
Since Wednesday after work I have been out in it every night to run the engine in. Just taking it easy.
Can't describe how much fun it is, i bloody love it.
Here is a couple of pics I have taken over the passed few days.
I also attatched my gopro to the cage and took it a run today - The video is on youtube.
Only issue is the suspension is needing to soften up and the tracking done, it has dampning settings but not sure what way to adjust them.
A small update.
Done around 200 miles after work this week and have been loving it.
Filled it FULL with fuel now the gauge is always full, as much as I would love it to be infinite free fuel I somehow doubt this.
Bought a new 11" flat bottom steering wheel to replace the 11" momo round wheel.
Going to head to Applecross tomorrow I think if the weather holds out.
Glad you've got it back and enjoying it at last
I know mate, been out in it so much.
Such a great car to drive. Wish I had bought one years ago.
Got some jobs to do over winter.
Carbon dash
Digital speedo/clocks ect
New switches
Change the colour and powdercoat arms ect.
LSD Diff
My new 11" flat bottom steering wheel arrived yesterday so fitted it last night.
Today we decided to go a run around Applecross
Went another good blast with my brother in law on his road quad, also removed the stickers off the bonnet.
Need to change the rear suspension bushes in the coilovers but AVO sent me them FOC which was good.
Took a few pics of the car at the weekend after getting out a run in it.
Thinking of putting Caterham clear rears on it aswell.

I'm down the road in Forres if it stops being so windy and you fancy a run out at some stage!
Love the car, colour wouldn't have been my first choice but it really works - I'm jealous. Mine should be up and running in a few years. We should have a Scottish get-together.

I was out between Forres and Grantown earlier this evening in a light blue BEC, doubt that's on your route though.
Nice to not need a warm top on this evening!

Bloody hell just noticed this now.
Sorry mate, always keen for a run.
I was out on Sunday, hit a pothole and it broke my front mudguard bracket, managed to weld it just waiting on new bolts coming.
I also do some work with Baxters mate, what is it you do?
Were you round at Eurocarpart/TNT with your kit car last week?

Had the car out a good run tonight and popped over to the farm.
Great photography, car looks great
Massive change of plans.
Bought a ZX9R conversion kit so going down this route in winter.
Just spent £950 plus a new crank on the rebuild of my XFLOW so this will be for sale with the type 9 box etc etc in winter.
Excited for the big build
That's one way to clean the underside!

Engines arrived today.
The lad threw in another spare ZX9R engine with a hole in the block but its a complete engine with carbs etc.
I'm away on holiday (Maldives) ON Saturday and will get back to this when i get home.
Well been putting more miles on the car and beginning to gather parts for my winter conversion.
Bought a welder for making any brakcets etc
Bought a prop adapter
Gearshift adapter
Going to start clearing my garage to get ready also. Will take pics of the whole process.
In the meantime I got back from holiday last week and ended up in hospital with apendicits which has now been diagnosed as Salmanella so off work as
not allowed near anyone haha - Pain in the arse, first time I have been sick in about 10 year since I was 20. Rugby injuries plague me more than
sickness haha. Not used to sitting doing nothing but I suppose it will give me time to make me a shopping list for this job.
I visited Scottish Kit Car Centre at the weekend. as they are making me a Westfield ZX9 engine cradle so took my engine down for them to mock up.
They will also be modifying my wiring loom and doing some other jobs.
Its a nice set up and seen some lovely kit cars which gave me more ideas.
Ordered my engine crane aswell which should be here next week so i can start removal of my old running gear.
Picked up a akrapovic carbon fibre race can for a ZX9 from my mate for £40 with link pipe so that's the exhaust sorted.
Also went out a run on Sunday but it's getting a bit chilly for shorts and tshirt and the car runs out of MOT in 2 weeks so will take it off the
road then.
[Edited on 12/10/16 by TheHighlander123]
Well the day has come.
My car runs out of MOT on Friday so have decided tomorrow I am going to start my conversion.
Garage is all cleaned and ready
Engine hoist arrives this week
Will start with taking the exhaust off then drain all fluids and take if from there.
Be prepared for lots of pointless questions and photos.
Good luck, hope it goes well, and look after that engine for me....
Adam

Removed some bodywork
Drained the coolant
Removed manifold,downpipe and exhaust

This weekend I painted the engine cradle black.
Bought a reverse kit off Jamesc on here (bought it tonight)
Will be fitting the engine tomorrow and measuring up for getting the prop made.
Where do you get a propshaft made? Is it expensive?

Well done!
We have our engine/box/prop in & mounted, the gearshift extender 'just' clashes with a chassis tube but we'll work a way around
that, and we're just doing plumbing, cables etc!
So we're getting on ok too.....
Thanks

Drove 168miles to Scottish Kit Car Centre today to drop off my Westfield.
They are going to
Fit prop
Fit reverse kit
Order me a carbon dash and fit my savage switches
Fit wiring loom
Fit gear change kit
Fit throttle/clutch cable
Get the car running.
Can't wait to get it back already.
Had a poo week, manage to crash my company car, put it on it's side. Made it up to Thurso in the snow and back then crashed 1 mile from my
house, luckily uninjured but the car was now, fair bit of damage. Get my new company car which I ordered last year in March so not sure what we are
going to do.
too bad you crashed your car man!
but look at it on the bright side, your westfield is nearly runing! keep up the work
