What will 5k get me these days?
2b_pablo - 5/6/09 at 08:55 AM

Hi guys, been a member on here since my last kitcar and now looking another.

Ive 5k to spend, and want a non pinto car, ideally a BEC. But consider a good zetec/redtop etc.

other niceties include IRS, LSD and road legal (not essential).

So whats about? I missed a tiger avon 2L zetec with trailer there for 4500 so there are bargains about Im sure.

Cheers all

Plenty of cars for sale at the moment - have you looked on Piston Heads?

Most BECs seem to be around the £6k an upwards mark from what Iv'e seen.

BEC Indy £5500

that one looks well, Id need to gauge what needs finishing and how much would need done for SVA.

I think if buying a non SVAed car it would need to be cheaper.

firstly SVA is gone; replaced by IVA more -test cost more plus you need reverse gear - expensive to buy and would need fair bit of dismantling to fit (unless it has one already).

plus all the other bits - how much time and cost to put them right to passs IVA?

unregistered cars obvioulsy will be cheaper.

take at look at this one: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1062622.htm ready to go - I'll bet you getthat for less than £ 6 k.

smart51 is selling BEC - I'll bet you can haggle too.

Don't forget to budget for an item or furniture, new carpets or an expensive item of jewelry for your wife. I always find that "wife approval" comes at a price...

baby #2 may be the cost of this one lol

I think you're right Are you sure £5000 is your maximum? My £7000 asking price is an opening for negotiation but I'm not going to give it away for £5000.
