Mechanic needed for my madza

Hi guys,
I have a mazda mx5 that's done 70k but it turns out the bottom bearings have gone after running it out of oil..
Does anyone have connections or can fix it/ drop a replacement engine in it? The car is currently in peterborough..
Happy to pay obviously, let me know what you think/ quote/ time scales etc..?

There's a mx5 garage in Ramsey near Tesco .is it like ford duratec engine or the older mx5 .

thanks for the replies.. I took it to a mazda garage but they said it needs a new block which get ready for it, they said it would cost 7k! oh bejesus - surely not. I'm just wondering whether anyone can do it on here in their garage or anyone that can do it at a reasonable price.

Brand new with insurance-rates labour sounds about right, a recon or a simple swap would be a lot cheaper (in the regions of hundreds rather than thousands). What engine is it?

It's all about the crank
If the cranks ok it's not an expensive fix just mains and or big ends
Now this depends how long it ran dry, if you turned off as soon as the oil light came on you have a fighting chance if you blindly drove on it could run the little ends and bores.
If it was me I would buy a secondhand engine from a crash damaged car, fit that and then start looking at the original engine, fix that in slow time, put it back in and flog on the secondhand one.

This is the way forward. hire an engine crane and get the job done in a day
