Secret driver coalition. Shh dont tell the police!!
This happened a few weeks ago and I have been meaning to put up a post. This is not first time it has happened and I have even done it myself!
I was driving in Bedford area and I had a guy in a large car coming towards me. He was flashing his lights and waving like a mad man. Obviously I
slowed down as I wondered what he was up to. As I went round a sweeping corner further up the road I could see a police man speed gunning me! As I
slowed down everybody behind me did so Mr Plod earned no money from the next ten cars or so.
So I would like to thank who ever you are for saving me £60 and 3 points. Has anybody done or seen stuff like this before?
A thing that I do is to say thanks when night driving is I DONT flash my lights but dip them to side light and back on. Saves me burning out the back
of the persons eyes that has just stopped to let me through. I have not had anybody do that back to me yet. Anyone else do this?
Finally: DONT BUY PETROL FROM BP \ SHELL \ TEXICO OR ANY OTHER PETROL COMPANY. USING SUPER MARKETS ONLY WILL DROP DOWN THE PRICE. Pass it on so
everybody does it. I did it to day, I saved 2p per litre and got Necter points!

I always get that when im out on a round. Saved me a few points too!
As for the petrol thing, how would that drop the price of fuel? The fuel all comes from the same place, its all just got different additives in it so
all you are doing is using crappier fuel and giving the supermarkets extra money!
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I always flash but dont often get warned before a copper but i did the other day and was also very thankful. Saw a post not to long ago about that
petrol thing and therefore i only buy from supermarkets. Doubt it will work but oh well, anything worth a go at its current price...

Ah yeah the theory behind the petrol thing. I read it on here some where.
If you only buy from certain places the others will drop the price to compete. The main petrol stations dont have as much overheads as super markets
and get the fuel at a cheaper rate (because its their product) and price their fuel to the supermarkets to maximise profit. Due to this large mark up
in price they have more to play with. If they are not selling they will drop the price to bring people back. People are just too lazy to look at the
pennys differnce so they just creap up and up. The news was saying that 'In some places the diesel costs are upto £1.20'
Thats was a few weeks ago. Now im lucky to even see it at that!
It may work, it may not. I think its worth a punt and its a better idea than not buying fuel at all!
I also understand that the tax is a massive part but nothing will change that!

I get flashed sometimes when there are speed traps about - in France, where the rozzers set up speed traps on the motorways, the locals will flash
each other a couple of Ks down the road! It is illegal to own a radar detector over there tho...

I dip my lights instead of a full beam flash.
I'm trying to teach the hole country how to do it one car at a time.

I think satnavs with camera locations are still legal there though.

I think it was discussed on here previously but there was supposedly someone prosecuted for warning other motorists in this manner - probably an old
wives tale though?

How about just driving under the speed limit?
And, don't forget supermarket petrol is imported in ships whereas oem petrol is home refined and of a better quality.
Marching on Downing Street is the only way I can think of making a stand. everyone, for weeks on end, there's plenty peeps affected to keep it
up for long enough time to embarrass the government.
Is that bloke still outside Westminster Palace with his megaphone tainting them about Iraq??

At the end of the day, whichever bunch of lying thieves gets in next month, a big debt still needs paying off. If (like me) you object to the price of
fuel, use less.
The alternative is higher basic rate taxes or increased vat, neither of which is as easy to avoid.
Of course, getting rid of some civil servants might help

IIRC, it's up to a £1000 fine for warning other motorists, if they take a fancy to prosecuting you.
I was coming home from the station one evening when I ended up behind a grandad in his Micra - trilby, the works - doing precisely 2 mph below the
speed limit. As I was busy grumbling, we went around a corner to see a policeman with his hair-dryer at the ready. I felt a lot more benevolent to
the old driver in front of me after that!
Oh - and I always do the 'headlights off' thank you when going down the narrow lanes.

Yes. Brian Haw. Peace campaigner. Gets roughed up by the police when they get the opportunity but he still protests. He held an Easter picnic
on the grass outside Westminster this year.
To quote Winston Churchill
"If you will not fight for the right, when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so
costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a
worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
OK that was about freedom not petrol but I feel better getting it off my chest!

The problem there is, the s.markets usually price there fuel with a very small profit margin, some times even as a lost leader, in order to get people
to call in and use there store.

i dont think enough drivers would understand the signal to make it worthwhile, most would think you were telling them their headlights werent on.
That said, the other day my battery was so low that when i flashed someone it killed the engine and i had to get a tow!

Hmmmm... We seem to have a triple subject thread going
Flashing for speed traps
Flashes for thankyou at night
Fuel prices.
So...
As for the fuel prices the idea is nothing to do with who supplies the super markets, its simply stop buying at the major oil companies forecourts and
when they are getting really empty of customers they will have to tempt us back and the only way that happens is by lowering prices. When they do that
then the supermarkets have to follow and bingo we have a price war which is great for us. If we don't try then don't moan about the amount
your paying. If you have doormat on your head then your inviting people to walk all over you.
Chris.
