Unuasual way of locking my mondeo
Earlier today i was working on the sports car, half in half out of the garage, with my mondeo on the drive,
I had just been to the boot of my mondeo to retrive my mini compressor, and closed
the boot
Then attached the m//compressor to the sports car battery, when my mondeo locked itself. full lock, hazzards etc
Very Odd ?????
The keys (only ones) were in the hall and about 10-15 ft from were i was, and no one was in the house
So when my wife came home from work
i /we did the same experiment again, and the mondeo locked itself, full lock with hazzards, not half lock
VERY bizzare
yet i tried the same scenario earlier, but with the sports car in the garage. but it did not work
so what is happening ??

Nah - it's simple - your neighbour has a spare key and keeps locking your car to wind you up....other than that it's magic !

Its probable if you unlock the car and open the drivers or one of the passenger doors this wont happen, the boot though for some reason only known to
fords will re lock after a certain time.
My nissan if unlocked by key fob will re lock after 20 seconds if no doors are opened, other than that its voodoo evil spirits or you having a dream
and typed this in your sleep.

My dads Nissan usually locks it's self after a short space of time, but last year he went on holiday and left the car parked up for a week in
heathrow and came back and it was still unlocked (No damage or anything nicked).
I second neighbour with a spare key.
I've got a weird one for you, FIAT put a button on the key fob that opens the boot but it doesn't unlock it so if you open the boot with
the key button and accidently drop your key in and shut it your introuble. The stupid thing is the only part of the boot you can use to lift it is the
button on the boot lid that opens the latch.

Yeah it's some kind of "accidental unlock" thing which doesn't appear to apply to the boot.
It doesn't apply to the bonnet either alough it will trip the alarm...

It does it on my mondeo
If you press the unlock button or boot open button, open the boot only, the doors will unlock and then relock after approx 60 secs.
When i work on customers cars at work, ive got in the habbit of opening a window just incase.
If a door switch is faulty, it can cause problems, ive opened a door, left keys on the dash, and the car didnt know i have opened the the door and
locked the keys in, hence window open from now on.

On my Mondeo it will lock itself if you unlock on the fob and don't open the doors - presumably to overcome the problem of the open button
getting knocked on the fob by coins as you walk away after parking and locking. The boot doesn't count as a door for some reason.

Steve the car wont self lock if you unlock and open a door, mine will only self lock if i unlock and leave it.
Again if its not that its voodoo or evil spirits, i would sell the car or if its a 2 litre and petrol give the engine to me.
