How do white wall tyre inserts work?

I quite fancy white wall tyres and had thought of painting the walls white but somehow I'm not sure it would be "solid" enough.

I saw tyre inserts on ebay has anyone any experience of them? They appear to be jammed between the tyre and the rim but no adhesive is used? Surely they would just flap about?

Cheers!

Seen pictures of them on classic minis but not in the flesh. Was considering them for my mini at one stage

I used to see them for sale at VW shows all the time. My understanding is they fit exactly as you describe and that no glue was required.

Are you on about the flaps
I used them on a zephyr
You just break the outer bead, slot them in and then re inflated- making sure that theyre sitting evenly around the rim
I would smear grease behind the edge as it wears away over time
I had a thin white band and the wear was quite apparent
Wouldnt be so much on a white wall
Transformed the appearance of the car
